He never fought any body he hit anywhere near as hard as Kovalev.
He was dropped a couple of times in fights but never hurt.

So what do you base him have an iron chin off? He barely fought any hard punchers the hardest puncher he fought was Kessler.

Byron Mitchell dropped him like a sack of ****.

He was clearly hurt by a shot to **** RJJ who had lost his power years ago. It wasn't even a clean shot, but it dropped him and he was clearly buzzed...he was fortunate that it was a shot opponent who had nothing in the tank to close the show.

Kovalev's power is savage, coming in squared up to slap-flurry is simply a KO waiting to happen. Kovalev wouldn't just win, he would crush him.

Kovalev would absolutely destroy Slappy Joe. I think both Stevenson and Kovalev would spark him out. They both throw more then one single punch unlike Lacey, both are prime unlike Hopkins and Roy which was key to Joe out hustling them down the stretch. Kovalev is more vicious then Kessler and Stevenson is more athletic.

I know everyone is riding Kovalev's d1ck really hard right now, but he's not an unbeatable monster. He beat up a 50yr old man who throws 5 punches a round.

Kovale v fought a smart fight. Proved he can win a chess match. All Joe did was out hustle opponents with 100 slaps a round and the lack of power helped with his speed so he just swarmed people with slaps. Joe's resume is extremely lacking besides the last few fights in his career yet Lacey and Kessler are the only people he beat that were elite and in their physical prime and Lacey wasn't even elite I'm just throwing joe a bone because he was an underdog because his record was that poor. Joe wouldn't even fight Glenn Johnson. Nevertheless try to slap with a guy who would knock him the hell out.

Intriguing fight. At his very best I could see Joe winning handily on points, but whilst having a very good chin, he could make mistakes as was shown against Mitchell, Hopkins and Jones. Kov has real power at LHW and Joe was never a LHW, so if he were to make a mistake against Kovalev, he would have been in serious trouble. I would lean towards Kovalev in this one.

No one thought a guy who had never gone past 8 rounds would shut out Hopkins over 12. Try taking off the jingoistic goggles for a minute.
Lets pretend the fights weren't 6 or 7 years apart.

Nothin to do with being unbeatable.

Calzaghe never fought anyone as good as Kovalev anywhere close to their prime.

If/when he lands he's in trouble.

                    • "OMGZ Calslappy got dropped by old Roy and Bernard y'all. What do you think KOvalev would do?"

Is that seriously the extent of the analysis that goes on around here?

Do people not think that Calzaghe would fight more cautiously knowing Kovalev's power? He clearly didn't respect Hopkins' or Jones' power. The Hopkins KD wasn't even about the power of the shot. It was a flash KD.
