His career lost steam after his loss and injuries and leaving Frank Warren.

But even then he was still on National TV during that period.

The first Groves fight was the exact same position as this And that fight sold out in half an hour.

Froch-Golovkin wouldn't do close to those numbers (the first fight)

Big domestic fights do big numbers in the UK. That's what the casuals will pay for.

      Haye-Harrison did big numbers.

To even suggest that Froch-Golovkin would do better than Froch-Degale in the UK is genuinely mind boggling.

He's made some poor promotional decisions. Not many would pay to see him fight on his own card against a nobody and that's mainly what he was fighting during his time at Hennessy.

But the Groves fight generated a huge amount of interest considering they were both rookies at the time so another high profile domestic fight against a fighter of Froch's standing would certainly generate huge interest - not as big as Froch-Groves II obviously but still bigger than Golovkin.

i made a thread last year, how the hell does this guy end up on an undercard of a small time card in Canada. So lost a lot of steam, but I guess regained it quick vs Gonzalez. A very good performance, no doubt.

To an outsider it might not be clear this is a big domestic fight, since Froch seems to bring all the fans. You don't think the same guys would turn out for GGG?

No I don't think the same would turn out for Golovkin because no one outside of hardcore fans have a clue who he is in the In the UK.

Of course it's a big domestic fight.

Obviously it's not massive that Froch-Groves 2 but it's atleast on the level of Froch-Groves 1.

It's basically like suggesting that Marco Huck vs either Cleverly or Bellew would do the same business as the two of them fighting each other.

It's just not a realistic argument

But hardly anyone, including hardcore fans, is paying to see Degale. They come to see Froch. They'd quickly find out what level of opponent GGG is, the hype machine would go into overdrive, and nothing easier than hyping a KO artist like that with all of the boxing world watching. But anyway, maybe Degale has gained a lot of momentum on the back of his last win

Those two have an actual rivalry, and both bring fans
