IMO, GBP isn't trying to go head to head with Floyd. It seems to me that they're playing a game of chicken to try and get Floyd to back off from the May date. From a business point, Canelo-Cotto card will sell the most on Cinco De Mayo, assuming it's the only PPV that weekend. With the transition Floyd is making between promoters, it seems like the perfect time for them to try and make this power play to force Floyd out of his usual May date.

Will it work in September? Who knows, but I think Floyd takes at least a year off

Look man in the end im Team Canelo all the way but this has happened before and neither backed down. So what we got was 2 TV's set-up withvolume down on one and unable to enjoy both superstars of this sport at work. Only difference is these will be PPV.

Now the volume will be up on canelo but with this possibly being one of last twp fights for floyd it will suck.

So this game of chicken might affect us as fans, or at least this one.

No he's not. This is obviously for the good of the sport. Look at all those names at showtime and none of them are fighting each other but instead showcase after showcase fight. lol HBO is only putting on COMPETITIVE match ups. This will force showtime to follow suit or be left behind.
