You do realize he was with Top Rank right?
Didn't they only offer him 2 mil for the GGG fight?
Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. appears to have no interest in extending his promotional contract with Top Rank. Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, says Chavez's contract ends in October 2015, which the Mexican boxer's camp disputes. There were serious negotiations to have Chavez face WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin at the 168-pound limit in July, but the fight fell apart over Chavez's position to receive a sizable purse without a contract extension.

Floyd could give him 5 plus PPV upside if it does well, and that could setup the Froch fight on his own date in the future.

Also Floyd is done after his 2 fights so he can be the guy at Showtime when he is gone. There was a rumor a while back that he was talking about signing with Haymon.

He made 2.5 mil to fight Vera.

Can't see it happening man, they scaled back the budget on the last card they're not going drop two mil on Chavez.

I'm not a Canelo fan but respect his genuine desire to be great but his ego is going to end up costing him in the long run.

. Like others have said he didn't earn those dates and in reality he isn't that big of a star to dictate things. If Oscars dumb enough to go head to head in May / Sept just to hurt Mayweathers sales then he's pretty much putting all his hopes in Canelo because I doubt any Haymon associated fighter will work with GB in the future( Unless it's against Salkas to get off the contract) even though I think that's already the case.

Doesn't seem like a smart business move for Oscar to go head to head with the #1 boxing star on his dates which will hurt both cards numbers wise, and lose the rest of your stable who has any sort of name. Cutting off his nose to spite his face.

But Oscar has been dealing with this whole situation with emotions like the borderline ho.mo sexu@l he is so I wouldn't be surprised. Either way should be interesting no matter what happens.

I know it is a long shot
Remember Floyd saying he has a May surprise? What could it be?
If he signed Chavez Jr. to TMT (or Haymon signs him) then I think Floyd would be willing to take a little less guaranteed. I remember a while back they where hanging out at a Lakers game together (I wonder what they were talking about?).

They need to make a big move and that would be it.
Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. spent some hanging with WBC welterweight/junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The two fighters were watching the Los Angeles Lakers play the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. Chavez said he was invited to the game and enjoyed it with Mayweather. Chavez is poised to face Bryan Vera in a rematch on March 1, while Mayweather is set to return on May 3rd against an opponent to be determined.

Top Rank may be in danger of losing one of its only bankable names, as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is reportedly speaking with Al Haymon about switching teams.

I think he has 1 fight left but, his contract end at the end of the year so he could do what ever he wants after that. I'm just putting this out there now.

Now the volume will be up on canelo but with this possibly being one of last twp fights for floyd it will suck.

So this game of chicken might affect us as fans, or at least this one.
Don't know if this means anything, but Steve Kim just tweeted that the cable providers won't let two PPV's happen. Don't know what that means, but I can't see Canelo backing down

keep dreaming, chavez contract ends late on 2015, and unless he doesnt resign with arum he ain't going to fight until the date his contract expires...

If so then it is definitely possible (I think you confused him with Ward)
