Ortiz did not beat the count

Just rewatched the count and He didn't beat it. I counted 12 seconds from knee to rising, but He had already spat his mouthpiece out anyway, so its kind of a moot point.
I thought Matthysse looked great from what we saw. Better defence, movement and a jab back in play. He also looked slimmer than usual, so they may have been working on his agility in general.
Hard to judge at this stage.Comment

but as I say he didn't look like he wanted to continue, I'm not gonna argue over it.Comment

Oh I agree. He packed it in. There's been far too much debate already over this quitting bum. No one will ever hear from him again.Comment

i think most people dont realise that he has to be all the way up(not halfway) before the count reaches ten(you have to be completey upright, "before" ten)
ref said nine, he was still down, on his way up, before he way fully up, he was counted out, thus didn't beat the count
the second he was completely up, was the second the count hit 10Comment

Guy spat his gumshield out, indicating to me atleast other than he's winded that he was trying to bide more time.
Anyway the bottom line he Ortiz didn't want none, he came up from fighting bums to fighting a real top 3 in his division and got reminded quickly how he isn't in the same class and he found a way to quit before being badly hurt which would have been far more detrimental to his image as some big up and coming KO artist.
End of discussion.Comment
