I don't understand how ward is waiting til now...

The first fight that stuff didn't add up, 2004, I would have looked into it, not continue to fight for a decade in major fights, and not have any idea of the finances.. Ward is to blame for not being on top of his money..

2004-2012 is a helluva long time not to know where your money is at, plus ward being an idiot resigned half way thru even though he is now clearly saying that goossen has been screwing him since 2004'under their original deal...

Ward is an idiot, and is the exact reason we have the saying a fool and his money are easily separated,,,

Don't put all the blame on the promoters. Some of these fighters out there can be difficult also. They see Floyd and Manny's purses and their eyes light up and then they start thinking they are worth more than they actually are. The world is about supply and demand. Some fighters are in more demand than others.

These guys think there is a ton of money to go around and there simply isn't. Just like Ward it is called being an entitled b*tch and nothing more.
It's not about the money, it's about ownership. Both Arum & Goossen are examples of the greed endemic in the sport. A contract should be mutually agreeable in the short, medium & long term, for both sides. It should have sufficient get out clauses to EQUALLY benefit both sides in case of disagreement. The contract should facilitate an EASY split - a way to become uninvolved rather than a way for a promoter to own a fighter. At the point where a fighter is unable to fight, or legal proceedings are necessary, the contract has failed.

Or Ward is just being a b*tch. He already tried suing him and lost, if he signed a bad contranct he should get a better lawyer. If he can't afford a lawyer then he is a fool, because he could have just paid said lawyer a cut from his fight purse. But... who cares because again he did this before and lost.

This is sad news for boxing.

Ward is a great boxer and he is wasting his prime fighting court cases that he probably wont win.

Ward just needs to get into the ring and fight under goosen until his contract is up.

I could be wrong here because I don't know the peculiars of the contract, but I'm betting if Ward spent the last few years fighting instead of trying to take Goosen to court, he'd be free of the contract by now.
