Well yeah a lot of them just so happen to be African American but Oscar is Mexican American as well so I am talking about AMERICAN FIGHTERS in GENERAL are the Biggest Draw in boxing FOR A REASON!
It is the AMERICAN CASUAL FANS who boost boxing PPV Numbers not "OTHERS" as some like to believe.
The way Canelo is being marketed is actually ALL WRONG, he already has the Mexican fans, you don't need to sell to them anymore, he must Learn English so he can start to grab the attention of American Fans. Pacquiao has reached them, when people like this is talking about you:
^This Boost PPV Buys and grabs the attention of Casual Americans, that is why Mayweather aline himself with people like this for a reason:

Because that "KID" has 53 Million Twitter Followers so when he Tweets "Going To Be At The Mayweather Fight" it reaches a lot of people

That is not the point, you are talking about PPV buys right? and the fight would likely be IN THE US and on HBO correct? So when they tally up the PPV Buys it would be US PPV Buys NOT UK Buys
Even if Mayweather fight Khan in the UK Mayweather PPV Numbers IN THE US on Showtime is what will be countedComment

Bingo. In PPv it's all about the opponent... If your opponent isn't viewed as a big name or a threat then your numbers take a hit..
Floyd vs ghost, Ortiz, Maidana, do roughly a million or less.. But give Floyd a marquee opponent like oscar, Shane, cotto, and you will have blockbuster numbers...
Ali-Frazier 3 is gonna sell a lot better than Ali-young or lyles..
Tyson vs seldon is gonna do less numbers than Tyson-Holyfield..
PPv fights is a 2 sided equation, and if both sides are considered marquee then it will do big numbers.. Lara was not marquee
While one fighter might be able to bring a certain fanbase with them, the MATCHUP is what really matters. That's why Pac-Rios, Floyd-Ghost, or Canelo-Lara didnt sell huge #s. The matchups were meh, so then numbers ******.
Not sure why people to understand this.Comment

I seriously cannot believe your posts on this thread! This is the first time i ever see you posting something spot on and unbiased. Kudos to you man.Technically you could but the media is gonna be all over the world cup and the fight is gonna get marginalized. I was talking to my friends about it and they were all talking about the world cup. I said Canelo's fighting this weekend and they said against who? The World Cup did affect peoples awareness of this fight even happening.
Hardcore boxing fans knew Canelo was fighting Lara but Casuals are the ones who buy the majority of PPV's and they had soccer on their minds
And in a way the fact that the World Cup games were televised for free was a bad thing for the Canelo fight. People were more hyped for that and were like why would I pay to see a fight when what I really wanna see is this soccer match and I could spend that money on food and beer.
Guys, it's common sense that having a PPV fight on World Cup Final weekend is a bad idea. That plus Lara being virtually unkown to casuals are the cause of these alleged numbers.Comment
