Good. Hopefully Golden boy now realizes that Canelo's not the huge star they're making him out to be.

still less than 900k. floyd is the current ppv master right now. this means canelo will not be able to go against mayweather head-to-head for the may and september dates.

They overreacted to the drawing power of canelo based on 2 things..
1. Canelo was on a lot of Floyd undercards that did huge business, and when canelo was off and fighting trout, Floyd's number took a hit.. They took it as canelo giving a huge boost, when in reality it was because Floyd was fighting ghost not cotto, Shane, oscar, etc
2. Floyd and canelo broke records, so they figured he was a monster draw like Floyd when in reality he is probably 40% of the draw Floyd is, and Floyd always does huge numbers vs an opponent that is viewed as a threat
They just overestimated his stardom based off those 2 things, and they probably thought we can plug canelo in vs anyone and it will do 400k or more, and canelo still only commands a small guarantee of around 1.5-2mil so they wouldn't get burned if it flopped, and it has a low chance of flopping (200k or below)
I think there original plan was for it to be angulo/cotto/Ortiz but things got derailed.. Ortiz gets stopped in 2 by collazo and cotto chose sergComment

either, numbers seems to be going down all around for Boxing. The World Cup excuse is a FAIL, that was Over Long before the fight or the boxing event even started if I am not mistaking.
Wasn't really much Promotion for this fight though so maybe that helped keep the budget down to avoid losses
The Harsh Reality that some clearly don't want to admit is that...Canelo is not that Boxing Star or "DRAW" YET that Showtime and Oscar De La Hoya want you to believe that he is. Also I have mentioned before that people underestimate and overlook the CASUAL AMERICAN FANS who buy PPV's. All the credit is given to the Mexican fans who are hands down the best fans as well as the UK fans but Casual American Fans is where the money is. If you can get their attention then you will make a lot of money. Those are the fans that is making Mayweather a lot of money and it made Oscar De La Hoya a lot of Money.
What fans forget to tell you is that all of the Record Breaking Events in Boxing History as far as PPV Buys and Gate Records Included....AN AMERICAN FIGHTER!Comment
