It looks like Maidana got like 2-2.7 for the Argentina rights, Wonder what the rights in Mexico, England or the other countries paid.

This fight probably generated upwards of 100 mill everyone probably made $.
That $10 million in promotions fee was the number Schaefer said the Ortiz fight cost back in 2011 (per a NY Times article breaking down the particulars of Floyd's unique revenue sharing deal). I assume with the $ they sank into the fighters' purses, they didn't skimp on the promotional dollars, especially when inflation is taken into account.

And I basically did the max # of buys that the fight possibly did (900K) when the vast majority of reports have said it was actually in the mid 800K range. That's a total of about $3.5 million in revenue that would cover most of the supplemental income from TV rights. And I'm pretty sure they count closed caption, theater sales, etc with the buys. I've never seen a separate earnings report for that.

Plus, does anyone know if the promoters keep all of the gate $?

What will be Manny Pacquiao's legacy? The 8 division championships? The wars with Juan Manuel Marquez? Or the blood testing issue and Freddie Roach's admission that Alex Ariza was "shady?" In the end, Floyd Mayweather will be remembered not for his "in the ring" physical prowess (even though 46-0 is ridiculous), but his "outside the ring" business savvy. He developed the business model to turn fighters from employees to employers. He made his master a slave as he went from slave to master. You can hate his persona all day and night, but he is still the greatest boxer of our time.

Your right, I was talking about total revenue from the fight not Showtimes direct revenue.

I was going off the Canelo fight where they said the promotion cost 10 mill so I'm assuming that the Maidana fight cost less to promote.I could be wrong just speculation.

But I still think a event that generates in the ballpark of 100 million dollars is making $ for everyone involved. I just ant see the Maidana fight losing a bunch of cash and Showtime being ok witha rematch 4 months later. again just speculation on my part.

Didn't even come remotely close to that figure. I have no clue where you're getting $100 million from.

BTW, here's the NY Times article I mentioned: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/17/sp...pagewanted=all

Sometime in the late 1890s, during Grover Cleveland's second administration.

and what makes khan so great that all these ppv's will sell? i'm telling you i'm not saying they did badly just not what they wanted, and it's always safer to get maidana than someone else and risk doing even worse

Espinoza, while not disclosing the exact details regarding the pay-per-view numbers and the profits, rejects any claims that a bundle of money was lost on the show. According to industry sources, the PPV generated between 830-900,000 pay-per-view purchases. The show sold 15,718 tickets for a live gate of $15,024,400.
