That proves Cotto punches harder than Martinez? SMH It's embarrassing that you think your claim was proven. I'm glad you're not sitting in judgement over people in some courtroom somewhere.
I don't care how hard you punch, you can't break what you're not hitting. Miguel landed big shots in the first. Sergio never recovered and took still more punishment. I don't punch nearly as hard as those guys, but I'll guarantee you, if allowed, I'll smash anyone's nose and send them to the hospital with a concussion.
And this is boxing martinez was so great in your eyes that he was gonna beat cotto no matter what. His defence sucks and got cAught, thats his mistake. Cotto worked for that shot, martinez didnt let him get nothing, so of course if somebody allows you to hit in anx break his nose and concuss him it might happen , but would you be able to do that with a boxer who knows how to slip punches?? I doubt it!Comment

People are hating because their assessment of this fight was so inaccurate. Martinez has never been physically strong and they expected him to push around the smaller more compact fighter. Martinez has never been a one shot knock out punched but they expected him to blow out Cotto. Martinez has fought taller bigger men yes but they were all slow plotting come straight forward fighters.
One thing no one has mentioned is that Martinez has more power when fighting taller guys because he punches from his hips or his chest at the highest, because of that, Martinez gets more torque and strength on his punches when punching on and upward angle. Fighting a shorter man reduces his punching power significantly, not because he has no power but because where his punch begins. This is why before he moved up to fight Williams, Martinez was fighting bumbs/smaller men at a lower weight and barely registered any knock outs.Comment

Martinez was a bit overrated and Cotto was being underrated due to his losses to Manny, *Margarito* Floyd and Trout. Anyone can lose to either Manny or Floyd, it's almost expected. In Margarito, you had a clown with magic plaster wraps and it STILL took him 11 rounds. Cotto fought on with a broken nose for 9 rounds, drinking his own blood, unable to breath really. My point is that when you look at this a bit deeper, you can see how Cotto was always the better fighter and on a higher level than Sergio. When their worlds met, it became clear. Sergio's brain was scrambled every time Cotto caught him. Watching his earlier fights, I did not see a major difference in his foot work. He simply had no answer for Cotto's smart aggression.Comment

I have never seen so much butthurt in the boxing scene after a fight and it has nothing to do with Sergio. It was just the crazy amount of people that gave Cotto no shot and are shocked at how wrong they were and how ****** their comments now seem.
The reason all these idiots bring up excuse after excuse is to justify how wrong they all were. They made all kinds of predictions and absurd statements that made them look like fools after the fight. They are just trying to save face after being so horribly wrong and the excuses are not for Sergio the excuses are for themselves.
To all the butthurt be like Martinez and just accept he got beat by a better man. And in your case just accept that you were wrong and move on.Comment

Naw man, the guy goes from throwing massive combinations to like one 4 punch combination the entire fight. Goes from rifling off jabs, averaging near 100 punches a round to like 20 a round. Cotto looked great but Sergio was recovered from that punch in the first, otherwise he wouldn't have come out for the second round or gotten stopped in the second.
He last 8 more rounds so, I don't totally buy that a single punch in the first caused him to not be able to get his shots off or move around properly. If he was so damaged from that single punch, how did he take the 6th round or whatever round that was? He seemed to have his wits about him in that round.
It's called not being able to do what you used to do a few years ago. You know, when your knees weren't all jacked up. He was falling into the ropes from punches that didn't even land, man. No one is trying to steal Cotto's gusto here, there was some obvious issues with Sergio that people are trying to ignore/hide.
From Sergio's team's side, I just think they want to keep the door open for future fights. I have never had any surgeries at all on my knees but they will occasionally swell and become tender to the point where I have to stop jogging or whatever I'm doing and chill out for the day. I know what it looks like when a knee gets weak and gives out a little and I saw that a couple times last night.Comment
