He last 8 more rounds so, I don't totally buy that a single punch in the first caused him to not be able to get his shots off or move around properly. If he was so damaged from that single punch, how did he take the 6th round or whatever round that was? He seemed to have his wits about him in that round.

It's called not being able to do what you used to do a few years ago. You know, when your knees weren't all jacked up. He was falling into the ropes from punches that didn't even land, man. No one is trying to steal Cotto's gusto here, there was some obvious issues with Sergio that people are trying to ignore/hide.

From Sergio's team's side, I just think they want to keep the door open for future fights. I have never had any surgeries at all on my knees but they will occasionally swell and become tender to the point where I have to stop jogging or whatever I'm doing and chill out for the day. I know what it looks like when a knee gets weak and gives out a little and I saw that a couple times last night.
Well your wrong. Daily news already reported that MRI and CT's showed there was no problems with Martinez' knee or hands. However Martinez Nose was broken and most likely suffered a concussion as a result from the left hook. Martinez looked bad because he caught a mean left hook right on the temple, then moments later he got punched behind the head. He had a concussion and his equilibrium was off due to those shots. He also caught a left hook right behind the ear in that round which is why he was bleeding. He wasnt getting off as many punches because of all this^ and lack of sparring during training. Martinez came into a fight with out proper training, his timing was off and then big shots took away his balance. You cant argue with Doctors that are no in Dibella's pocket. Except the legit loss.

Btw, he was running pretty good on that bum knee. I guess that is what survival mode will do for a person.
His whole style depends on putting weight on that lead leg to gain power and stability. When you are primarily moving backwards and to your left, you are using your left leg (knee and quad), and dragging your right leg (in Sergio's case last night). The only muscle being exerted is the hamstring. He never planted his foot and let his weight fall over it...which is why there were several times when he punched and missed but Cotto was so far away from him that it made him look very awkward and as if he completely miscalculated the shot but it was because he didn't want to put weight on his lead leg to follow through with the shot like he normally would.

Even RJJ commented on the fact that he was dragging his right leg instead of picking it up off of the canvas.

You clearly have an agenda against Martinez, what with your pictures and all. I just hope that when Cotto gets dethroned, and trust me it will be very soon, you log off this site for good. This place doesn't need more trolls like you.

Of course Martinez and his team won't put any excuses, the alternative is saying that they knew Maravilla's legs didn't work and they conned the public into believing they did for a paycheck. Listen to the end of the fight when the trainer tells Sergio that his knees just won't do their part, that's all you need to know.
Would you be able to stand firmly if your equilibrium was affected throughout the fight? Have you read the medical/MRI report on Sergio? He had concussion and broken nose, his knees and hand was normal. I like Sergio as a fighter, it's just no one ever tried to cut the ring and tried to time him whenever he put his hands down to his hips. Roach and Cotto had a great strategy and executed perfectly. I give Sergio props for hanging in there as long as he can.

Daily news already reported. MRI's and CT's show no issues with Knees or hand. Martinez didnt train properly, got caught and never recovered. Remember what Roy Jones said last night "...it wouldnt matter if his knee was good or not, Martinez wasnt prepared for this Cotto..." End of story. NY doctors are not going to risk their licenses for a fighter.

I guess man...his knees were 100% and had absolutely nothing to do with his performace. I hope that Sergio is back in the ring in 3 months for the rematch. This way he can get that training he missed out on this go round.

You must not watch boxing if you think Sergio Martinez was 100% healthy in that fight. Dude couldnt even muster enough power to throw any type of punch combinations. I counted one. He was stumbling onto the ropes and tripping on his own feet when getting hit even with the lightest shots. This guy has been in wars with big middleweights and all of sudden Cottos punching power is denting him this bad?? Cmon, lets be realistic. Please youtube his greatest hits and tell me if that was the same person in terms of being healthy.

That guy stumbling around the ring like bambi and barely being able to put any energy into his punches is not a prime Martinez. The guy had nothing in his punches. The fact that the MRI and CT came out ok doesn't mean the guy could maneuver and put weight in his punches, it just means no bones were broken.
