It's better than saying i knew i was too injured to fight but was willing to rip off the fans paying for a PPV so i could get their money.

You've seen athletes act graciously after losses before? It's sounding like this is a whole new phenomenon you've never experienced.

You could even tell during the interview that he was consciously having to hold back from "making excuses". They were all fairly abrupt, non committal replies.
His trainer stepped in at the end and truthfully said Sergios knees were shot. He didn't object to this interjection, because it was true

The fact is that Martinez hasn't looked good since the surgeries after the Chavez Jr fight and who knows maybe he could beat a 100% sergio but nobody knows and all we do know is that Cotto beat a faded Martinez and even though people knew he was faded most people felt he would still win but obviously that was not the case.
cotto timed martinez and never followed him around the ring (pavlik followed martinez all night long) cotto and pavlik are 2 totally different fighters. first thing. cotto has brilliant timing, he has quick hands and he does not follow you around the ring (he's more of a puzzle with high fundamentals) pavlik is a plodder. so is chavez jr.............very slow fighters with hardly any athleticism to keep up with martinez (why are you guys comparing these fighters to cotto? cottos fundementals and tactics are obviously on another level. you see, martinez has always been a bit overrated. (chavez jr. i consider trash, as with macklin) cotto presents A much more difficult style then pavlik, chavez, & macklin...........

I almost had to mute HBO since roy jones kept hollering about the knee, and saying his knee gone, yet serg went 10 hard rounds and was getting caught nonstop by the left hook...

Cotto won the fight based on the left hook, not the damn knees
That's because unlike yourself, Roy Jones knows nothing about boxing. If I were you I'd call HBO and ask for him to be fired, you should take his place man.

thats because his legs were gone....cotto had jumped all over him in the 1st (did you not see how badly his legs wobbled when cotto landed that left hook?) it was one time when martinez even ****** his gloves on the canvas and shook his head (because he just couldn't get it going) he was hurt to the body and chin...........that has nothing to do with a knee.

Martinez's fighting style is pure movement. Its very obvious he has no knees left and therefore will get caught with everything you through at him. In his best times he would put his hands down, expose his face and get out of the way as brtual hooks flew inches away from his head. It was great to see him in his prime and that's why a lot of us that have been following boxing for some time appreciate the guy. But he clealry cant do that any more. So yes, no knees, no Maravilla.

bull.............martinez has mentioned injuries before (in post fight interviews against other guys) martinez believe it or not doesn't give a **** and quickly says whats on his mind. his team was pressuring him to say the knee, his trainer, even max who was interviewing him. everyone wanted martinez to blame the knee but he didn't because it's not truthful. "the truth of the matter is i got caught in the first round and never could get it together from that point on" he was fighting badly hurt to the chin not the knee.............

Here's how I'm reading the argument:

                  1)Martinez made excuses against Murray
2)Therefore he will always make excuses when they're available

Can you see how 2 doesn't logically follow from 1?
The Murray fight was supposed to be Martinez' homecoming, in front of 40k partisan rain soaked Argentinians. He felt he'd let them down, so he made excuses.

It was a completely different context Vs Cotto. The crowd were booing him before he even received the Mic. Knees or not, he probably felt he'd beat a jumped up WW anyway. Admitting being unfit going into the fight wouldn't be received favourably by most- it was his fault for accepting the bout.
As it is, his trainer said what needed to be said anyway, and got booed for it instead.

                    He wasn't hobbling.

You're right, he had nothing on his punches cause his legs were gone. Whether that was the knee problem, the fact that he got the ***** kicked out of him in the 1st, or some combination of the two, yea that's clear.

But you're making it seem like he was limping to his corner at the end of every round that's simply untrue.

**** off and dont be so smug...

Its clear that serg has seen better days,, I took him off my p4p lists after the murray fight and i said he is past it...

But even a prime serg would have trouble with that cotto.... The way serg is a southpaw with his hands low, he had no answer for that left hook.. None..
That left hook would have landed on serg in 2010, 2011, 2013, whenever..
It was a style matchup and serg had no answer for the left hook
