Obviously Joe would've knocked his **** in. A pity for poor Joe, came in too late for one golden era and pulled out too early for another. Still and all, he'll always be one of my favourites, a true stylist, a true original with great humour in his style.

I just have to weigh in here: First a confession(s)....Not a fan of Calzighe and think he is overrated horribly. I don't think he should even be talked about next to the likes of a prime JOnes, etc. Second I have not read this thread and I usually do when commenting but again....Had to weigh in here

jOE WOULD EAT FROCH FOR LUNCH!!!! Destroy him. Look at how Froch caught G last fight...it was a slow punch and G had his hands down. Joe would never get hit by Froch.

Froch is more skilled than Gatti but not by much. Joe was better.

Joe would have dominated Froch & it would have
Done nothing for his legacy, Carl was an absolute nobody then
& may have not gone onto to have the same career
after a loss at that stage. Froch got a lucky decision
Over Dirrell, nearly lost to Taylor, Groves, Glen Johnson.
Joe would have beaten all Froch's best wins & I'm 100%
Hopkins would have clearly beaten Froch.

This has pissed me right off. I'm a Calzaghe fan as much as I'm a Froch fan but Joe needs to STFU and show some respect for Carls achievements. Joe could only dream of having the fight record against (in prime)elite opposition on the world stage that Carl has. Yes Joe you went unbeaten in your run but you did not face a prime Roy Jones Jr who probably would have whooped your ass the same way he whooped everybody elses ass back in his prime. Carl on the other hand has fought everyone who is anybody and he continues to do so . Please Joe shut up and accept that at the end of the day Carls achievements are greater than yours.
Yes Joe, you would have beaten Froch especially early on in his career but you did not give him the opportunity to fight you when he called you out. Carl on the other hand gave the next best British fighter in his era(Groves) the chance for his titles and boy did he have to work hard to keep them. Sorry Joe but IMO Carls legacy is greater than yours

Froch called him out and Calzaghe thought he was too much of a big shot to even consider him aka a duck...standard practice for him.

If you're talking about the Facebook interview with Groves, he was clearly being tongue-in-cheek.

Calzaghe's comments almost seem like a defense mechanism because he like everyone else can feel what's in the air, the feeling of the people, the boxing public, everyone pretty much realizing and finally accepting that Froch is surpassing him in how they are viewed and how they will be remembered. Joe held on to his "undefeated" thing for dear life and still uses it to try and validate his career but yet in his close fights where he struggled and arguably lost he never tried to redeem himself by fighting again to erase any doubt of it and instead ran away from them to chase aging past shells of their former selves in Jones. When an old past prime somewhat capable Hopkins beats you in many peoples eyes, instead of rematching the guy you run to an even more past prime fighter in Jones, then you end up being remembered the way he is know being remembered, like an opportunistic, play it safe, take no risks, milk my belts with meaningless defenses against tomato cans type of fighter who slaps.

Joe now has to look at 2 guys in the 168 pound division that bother him every time he hears about them, because joe is very very insecure and he knows that. Ward by far now is the best 168 pounder in the history of the sport. Resume wise, skill wise, undefeated, but he actually fought everyone, all top fighters not tomato cans like joe did and then he has to hear about people talking about Froch surpassing him also because, let's keep it real, Froch has fought everyone, will fight anyone and did it when it mattered. He didn't wait for fighters to get old and start showing signs of their skills eroding to finally feel safe enough to venture across the pond to fight them.

The 168 pound division is a very young division with not a lot of history and joe knows and feels he's been surpassed. He will never admit it, but he knows it deep inside. Ward would beat him any way he wants and Froch I'm not sure but one thing is clear, Froch has also like ward already done more than joe ever did in the division.

I'm sorry if it angers any diehards of the calzaghe clan but it's the truth.
