No disrespect to to Froch's resume.... but it is overblown. Joe's wins over prime Kessler and a Hopkins (yeah close fight but lets face it, Hopkins at that stage would eat any version of Froch) that would be good enough to unify a division are individually better than any win on Carl's resume. Carl has a consistent resume but he also lost his two biggest fights. His best true wins over prime opposition are Bute.... who went on to do what exactly? Dirrell... who for my money won the fight but even still, not exactly a superb win.... and errmmm yeah some past it guys.... nothing so special. Beating Groves who was 19-0 and 19-1 and having trouble with him twice doesn't do much for me.... anyway, no hate on either guy... both good champions... just think Carl gets a bit too much credit for an average resume.
Calzaghe: "I would have destroyed Froch, there is no comparison"

This.
At the end of the day, Froch is 10x the boxer you were. A much more respected boxer, with better accomplishments and will be remembered for years to come unlike you.Comment

Toney campaigned in a LHW fight in 1997 but came in overweight so I will let you have that.
But, I can't remember anything ever stating that Joe had signed a contract to face Hopkins in 2002. Prove it or it didn't happen.
P.S. I'm probably older than you so no go on the 'kid' part.Comment

The fight was agreed. Hopkins was to be paid $3m but he came back and demanded double in the next 24 hours. It was documented by Ring Magazine. Do your researchToney campaigned in a LHW fight in 1997 but came in overweight so I will let you have that.

It would be quite sad if you are actually older than me.Comment

Really? Where did it say in that , or any article that Joe accepted to come to the US and signed the contract?
3m was a decent offer from Joe but did you expect him to take that when he was turning down a 60/40 fight with Jones where the combined purse would have been 20m?Comment

I mean we're basically comparing apples and oranges, aren't we? Calzaghe was a pitter pat punches in bunches output guy who would win rounds with his steady barrages at awkward angles. His chin was decent but the real reason he skated to so many decision was his windmill flailing of fists wasn't as easy for guys to win rounds against as often expected.
Calzaghe fought guys who could **** and they simply weren't able to get solid connects most of the time in the breaks between Joe's machine gun touches; so I think I'd expect Froch to lose most rounds, as most did, to Calzaghe's activity.
That said, Froch has always seemed to be able to use his **** - that puncher's chance- as well as anyone could hope, so would HE actually catch Joe?
It might end up looking more like the Kessler or Lacy fights, though you could argue Froch might have better moments; the thing with Calzaghe is its hard to COMPARE him in actual ability to another guy when styles make fights and its his STYLE that got him so many Ws- hate or love that style.Comment
