Calzaghe last fought 6 years ago and after every Froch win gets talked about. If Froch had really surpassed Calzaghe then there would be no need to discuss it. Deep down everyone knows it, even the more ardent Froch fans. He will never surpass Joe unless he A) Beats Ward or B) Wins Lineal 175 title.
Yeah, ok. If that helps you sleep better at night.

They are talked about hand in hand because they're the two best SMW's this nation has seen that's why.

Plus, they have a rivalry because Calzaghe refused to fight Froch.

Each fight just further confirms how Froch is further ahead of Calzaghe.

Carl could move up and beat Roy Jones, would be as valid as Calzaghe's win...

I'm not sure it comes from Froch fans either, it's more of a way to downgrade Slappy since many are still butthurt he beat Bernard. Maybe they feel "avenged" by claiming Froch > Calzaghesince Froch lost to Ward and they can say that Ward is somewhat of a new version of Hopkins.
Well, that's just my personal paranoid view.

The Bute win is similar to the Lacy win in that it was a lot more impressive at the time.

Beating Hopkins and clearly beating Kessler still stands out to me compared to Froch having a couple more good wins. And I won't forget the Direll fight either, one I had Froch losing 8 rounds of.
Hopkins beat Calzaghe. Bhop got robbed.

                Froch is scrub.

Or Hopkins....you know the one that keeps dominating dudes and setting ATG records with every fight? You know that Froch is nowhere near the level of Joe. So Froch is so great because in part of his rematch win over Kessler? Guess what? Calzaghe didn't need a rematch, he dominated Kessler and took his 0.....yeah, sloppy Joe did that.

Joe beat 2 ATG's after moving up in weight and fighting in America. One ATG is still setting records with every single fight. Froch got his ass handed to him both times he fought in America....and he refused a rematch on both occasions. Froch keeps getting help from the ref to win his high profile fights.

                    13 more wins? Good stuff.

Line up 13 Calzaghe-esque opponents, Carl can get those 13 before 2014 is out.

It was very close. I'll give you that. I still say we don't know how good Groves really is. A lot of fighters look great against Froch in spurts. Glen Johnson had similar moments early.
