I guess being held up by the ref means you're ready to go

the hell. These refs are there to protect the fighter. Let's say groves did not wake up and the ref counted to 8 while groves lays there motionless. Everybody here would be furious with the ref. That was a good call by the ref.
No Groves wasn't out cold. Wtf...

Jheez, you're as thick as Larry.
-_- is what I've found myself doing many a time on this forum.

It's like people don't realise what happens when the body does not have enough oxygen, and how narrow the windows are between escaping with no injury and suffering permanent damage. The fact that an oxygen mask was placed on Groves face should tell people all they need to know. But, somehow the experts of Boxingscene know more than the referee, who saw Groves up close, and the medical staff.

Why don't you google a bit of research on brain damage Einstein. And after that gO find that fight where these precious few seconds saved a fighter from brain damage and I'll agree with you.

Yeah and Dr's like you can tell exactly what's going on with a fighter when you have never felt a punch like he did.

Dumb people - Spencer Oliver is a perfect example of where seconds made a difference, those seconds that fighters before him didn't have. The advancement in ringside safety have concentrated on exactly that, eliminating seconds of non treatment. I just don't see the argument at all, his legs were still not working at all 2 minutes after the fight!

Nope; but the medical practitioners, at ring side, could.
