I would say groves was unlucky that he woke up a split second late after the ref waived it off. But the ref did the right thing waiving it off right away when he saw groves out cold.
Fair point but you also made a point for the opposing side of the argument.

"I would say groves was unlucky that he woke up a split second late after the ref waived it off."

Wouldn't that mean that if the ref had counted before waiving it off we would have seen whether Groves could get up?

The result is not controversial. Groves lost Froch won. I just don't like ****ty reffing.

He stopped his count and assumed. He's the ref. Finish your count and then things will be clearer to observe the fighters condition.

Ref went to look in his eyes. His eyes were closed and he wasn't moving.

Another right hand could've brain damaged him. UK boxing has seen it before with Michael Watson and Gerald McClellan.

What does this have to do with the ref not counting to 8 after Groves went down?

It really doesn't matter if he would have gotten up quicker, he was still done and wobbly. No ref would have allowed him to go on even if he beat the count.

Nothing to do with the Froch Groves thing (he was out of it), but the count is usually at 2 or 3 before the ref even waives his arms. Is there really a medical injury that you can sustain in boxing where care beginning 7 seconds earlier would make any difference? and I'm asking that honestly not being a smart ass.

In fact with the typical corner protest and the fighter trying to prove he is ok, I'm not sure counting the extra 7 seconds or so would even make response actually any slower at all.

                You don't know that.

It has to do with the fact that he looked completely fucked, because that's what he was... Completely fucked. You don't need a 10 count when someone is that hurt.

Wave it off and get medical help ASAP. Those extra seconds can be the difference between brain damage and being fine.

What urgent medical help did he receive within 2-3 seconds? None? OK then lets dismiss that point. As Frank Urkel alluded to, you have to have experience with this sort of thing. Between his experience with being bashed in the head repeatedly and my experience with boxing we have a degree of expertise.
