Yes, I do agree that Golden Boy screwed themselves. But they didn't just walk away from HBO. A lot of their fights were ending up on HBO because Golden Boy was pitting Showtime and HBO against one another. So basically bidding wars, and each time Showtime would outbid HBO. HBO smartened up and realized, they were just being used more or less and decided to take themselves out the picture altogether.

Floyd didn't just leave to Showtime... there was a bidding war between HBO and Showtime. And once again, Showtime outbid them.

of course it will crumble if u take those major players out LOL. if u take 3 major players from GBP out, the company will suffer also, same with TR, same with anything that involves team work.

It is nothing about controlling, but it is all about a 2-way dependency. If Showtime decided to let Top Rank on their Airwaves now, Golden Boy would very quickly threaten to jump ship and run to HBO claiming how much they love them.

What in the world do you think caused this Cold War in the first place? It was all about the top promotional houses trying to force the networks for Dates. Go back in time, from about 2005 on, and look at some of the things that were taking place. Look how the networks (especially HBO) were being pressured by GBP and Top Rank. The struggle was going on for a long time.

Well, Manny is a grown ass man, and hopefully his new deal facilitates some new fights fans would be interested in. Honestly, people need to stop using Floyd as a reason to prop Manny up, because Floyd is doing nothing but taking on some of Boxing up and coming next generation stars. What he, B-Hop, and Marquez have done for the sport the last 10-15 years should be applauded, instead of ridiculed.

you can switch all the manny words into floyd and turn all the floyds into manny and that post would be true.

              it goes both ways.

this is a two way street. you're just on the other side of the team.

Same can be said about the Manny crazed fans claiming to know the details of Floyd's financial status.

A stock is ownership though. Wayne owns nothing. Pacquaio owns nothing. But Birdman owns Cash Money. And Bob Arums owns Top Rank. Both companies will continue to exist with or without their key players.
