Comments Thread For: Team Pacquiao, Bob Arum Discuss The Extension Deal

As reported on Tuesday, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao signed a contract extension with Top Rank until the end of 2016. Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, as well as Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz, discussed the deal with BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard.

Koncz told BoxingScene/Manila Standard - “After more than one month of negotiations with Top Rank and also a new player, Cash Money Records founded by Brian Williams aka “Birdman,” who was very pleasant to deal with and had some new refreshing ideas on forming a partnership with Manny and MP Promotions, Manny has decided to continue our partnership with Top Rank.” [Click Here To Read More]

As a casual fan of Pac I am a bit disappointed that he isn't trying to strike out on his own as I feel he is a huge brand name and could make a lot more per fight. Not to mention having a wider selection of fighters to engage. That said, cong**** to him on his new deal and I wish him the best.

On a side note, I refuse to believe that Cash Money ever had a chance in hell of securing Pac in a deal. Pac's team most likely used him to get a few more dollars from Top Rank in my opinion.
