A stock is ownership though. Wayne owns nothing. Pacquaio owns nothing. But Birdman owns Cash Money. And Bob Arums owns Top Rank. Both companies will continue to exist with or without their key players.

It is nothing about controlling, but it is all about a 2-way dependency. If Showtime decided to let Top Rank on their Airwaves now, Golden Boy would very quickly threaten to jump ship and run to HBO claiming how much they love them.

What in the world do you think caused this Cold War in the first place? It was all about the top promotional houses trying to force the networks for Dates. Go back in time, from about 2005 on, and look at some of the things that were taking place. Look how the networks (especially HBO) were being pressured by GBP and Top Rank. The struggle was going on for a long time.

I see your viewpoint a bit better now, and can understand it. I think you make some good points. I just don't agree though.

To me, it really doesn't matter because Showtime, HBO, Golden Boy, Top Rank, are all competing against each other anyway. Golden Boy and Top Rank compete for dates regardless of network. Even when they were all on HBO, they were competing for dates. And now that they are on Showtime, it is still the same. They still compete for dates even though they're on separate networks. We are getting fights a week apart and whatnot.

How do these networks and whatnot expect to do numbers when you have so many PPVs back to back to back? Canelo vs. Angulo, Pacquaio vs. Bradley 2, Mayweather vs. Maidana. Soon we'll have Cotto vs. Martinez, only to be followed by Canelo vs. Lara, then Mayweather vs. ?, followed by Pacquaio vs. ?, etc...

Nah, Floyd is doing what most of us want him and Manny to do, even most conservative Manny fans are beginning to acknowledge it. Fighting Canelo, Maidana, possibly Khan or Porter, maybe even Thurman is really all we can ask from Floyd at this point of his career. Give the next generation their shot, which builds new stars. Manny's Team and Arum are posturing to line up Marquez a 5th time, for what; to line their pockets?

We pretty much know the direction and path Floyd is heading down, but Manny everything is still up in the air. Maybe Arum and Oscar become bed buddies again and we see some of the fighters I listed fight Manny, but if not then using Floyd name as a option for Manny really isn't something real boxing fans should entertain anymore if the purpose is only to maximize interest in Manny's latest fight.

All I'm saying is Oscar, Floyd and Cotto were all basically imprints (if you will) signed to Top Rank. When they took their brands elsewhere yes there still was a Top Rank but the brand was greatly damaged to this day. If Manny took his little imprint (ride with me) elsewhere Arum would lose in a major way. I say Weezie with Nicki and Drake have even more power. They can take their little office space ANYWHERE and command MAJOR dollars. I don't think a Weezieless, Nickiless, Drakeless Cash Money can do the same thing. Just saying.........
