I also think Floyd did a lot of posturing in that fight and could've won a lot easier- iirc at the time Floyd was taking a lot of critiscm for not fighting toe to toe, and ended up fighting Cotto's fight rather than his own. He still won rather convincingly but if he had not wanted to prove a point and stay in the pocket it would have been a Marquez-style shutout.
I have two issues overall though-the way Floyd handled Canelo was exceptional, and I'm sorry I really think Canelo has the beating of Cotto any day of the week.
Second I think Cotto has bitten off more than he can chew with Martinez. Cotto relies on being able to grind down opponents, Martinez is all wrong for this approach- not just in style, but in size. Cotto will be less bull-like and more midget-like against Martinez.
What did Cotto do in fight #1 that would indicate he can win fight #2?
Consistently trapped him on the ropes
He was even able to counter Floyd at times
dropped floyd's normally near 50% connect ratio to 26%
And in the words of Floyd himself...
"Uppercuts, hooks, uppercuts, hooks... mother****a made me want to retire"
And Floyd Sr. On Floyd Jr.'s gameplan for Cotto ( for those thinking his presence would really change their gameplan vs Cotto)
"Floyd had to fight that way or he would have lost"
I'd say a rematch with Cotto isn't Floyds worst option.
WHEN Cotto demolishes Martinez I expect the prospect of winning a middleweight title to really make Floyd consider the rematch.

Take your panties out of your pu$$y it's not lady like Camel toe. You talk about Martinez like he's some 30 year old fighter with fresh legs. Martinez is going to have to deal with intangibles just as Cotto will and size won’t be an issue as it wasn’t for Margacheato II and it won't be for this fight..May the more younger and hungrier fighter win on June 7th in MSG on FREAKIN RICAN WEEKEND.. Even if you don't like the man as a person you still got to give it up to him as a fighter. Only if you don't like winners.
