I swear man...... Posters on here act like they never saw Martinez box before. Cotto is too small and will have no affect on Martinez. Once Cotto sees he has no chance and is in deep water he is mentally going to crack. Martinez KO is inevitable.

Was martinez too small for pavlik?
Was martinez to small for chavez jr?
Was martinez to small for p-will?
And he being the smaller fighter, did he win those fights? Okay then, but guess what those days have passed, and if you're banking on the size difference, i hope you think about it cuz this is far from a walk in the park for martinez.. boxing is the theatre of the unexpected, anything can happen... dont sleep on cotto.!

couple things - Cotto is hard to hit, Austin Trout has confirmed this in many interviews, Martinez is not doing much running in this training camp due to him being scared of reinjuring his knee, and all of you Martinez fans know that he fades, then catches a second wind, so I would worry about his conditioning - gotta have lungs to go past 5 or 6 rounds. Cotto did his thing against Mayweather, he won what 3 or 4 rds max? (idiots this shows you how good Mayweather actually is)! If Cotto comes in throwing those body shots, this will be interesting, Cotto is far from dumb like Mayweather, and everyone likes to believe their ring heroes are invincible but they look for weaknesses and opportunities like everyone else, and Cotto in an interview stated that this is the right time to go after Martinez, instead of Alvarez due to all of his recent injuries - this is not the Martinez from Paul Williams 1 & 2 or even the Kelly Pavlik Fight, this is a shop worn small middleweight that has had to fight bigger opposition for most if not all of his middleweight campaign - takes a major toll out of you -

All Cotto has is Jab. He has nothing else to beat Mayweather. Roach is playing into his own Hype. Pedro did all he could. Why doesn't Roach mentioned the fact, or anyone else for that matter, that Cotto trained himself against Pac? Why is it that this never gets mentioned. Also, seeing that Roach is hinting a trainer being why Miguel lost, why doesn't he mentioned the fact that Mayweather has now switched main trainers, too?
This is also a potential fight at 160...there are plenty to gain here in terms of legacy. Why is Roach not pushing for a Mayweather/Pac fight? Roach should know by now that a jab alone is not going to beat Mayweather, for he tried that with Oscar.

Cotto haters don't want it since it will elevate Miguel over their "compatriots" and they will not acknowledge any credit to the King!
This fight will generate 2M PPV buys!!! Make it happen!
#WarCotto
Roach said he wants PAC to fight Juan next not Floyd. Arum and roach control pacs future more than PAC himself

IDK, I thought the Cotto fight was interesting but it wasn't a close fight like some people try to make out. I also think Floyd did a lot of posturing in that fight and could've won a lot easier- iirc at the time Floyd was taking a lot of critiscm for not fighting toe to toe, and ended up fighting Cotto's fight rather than his own. He still won rather convincingly but if he had not wanted to prove a point and stay in the pocket it would have been a Marquez-style shutout.
I have two issues overall though-the way Floyd handled Canelo was exceptional, and I'm sorry I really think Canelo has the beating of Cotto any day of the week.
Second I think Cotto has bitten off more than he can chew with Martinez. Cotto relies on being able to grind down opponents, Martinez is all wrong for this approach- not just in style, but in size. Cotto will be less bull-like and more midget-like against Martinez.
