Giving Floyd a trickle of blood on his nose = a run for his money. lol Got to love those standards.

However that was an awesome fight and an awesome event.
      Yeah, this sums it up.

Hmmm...well...can't help but think if Cotto looks crappy against Marrinez, then yeah, he probably would land Mayweather again......

I think Cotto had his last chance to "punish" Mayweather during that only fight they've had. This is a hindsight vision 20/20 statement, however. But I'm making the claim because we now know that Floyd has since further honed his already exceptional defensive skills after he got back together with his father who is now the head trainer.

Following the Cotto fight and before they got back together, Foyd's father said his son was hit way too much (relatively actually, IMO) in the Cotto fight. He added that his observed drop/neglect in the defensive capabilities of Floyd would be corrected if he got back to training his son.

It appears the pair has since demonstrated enhanced game plans.

Mayweather's opposition typically come off the best performance of their careers and more times than not they're coming off KO/TKOs.

Baldo: Best win of his career over Judah and a TKO over Gatti
De La Hoya: TKO over Mayorga
Hatton: KO over J. L. Castillo
            JMM: TKO over J. Diaz
            Mosley: KO over Margarito
Ortiz: Best win of his career over Berto
Cotto: TKO over Margarito/ 3 fight KO/TKO streak
Guerrero: Best win of his career over Berto
Alvarez: Best win of his career over Trout

            Up next
Maidana: Best win of his career over Broner

If I had started following professional boxing 5 years ago, I would swallow the fallacy that Miguel has been the toughest fight for Floyd. However, I remember that Jose Luis Castillo really defeated Mayweather in their first fight (although Floyd won clearly the rematch) and obviously Floyd is never going to accept that first fight with Castillo should have been his only defeat instead of having an spurious or false "undefeated" record.

I didn't watch the first fight, but if I'm not mistaken Roach said that Cotto is one of the best body puncher and that's the reason he is one of the best fighter in 140-147 lbs. And I think that will be his strategy against May if he was in Cotto's corner. Keep hitting down even if the punches landed on the elbows and eventually it will hit the mark then go upstairs. I kindda agree with Roach though, Cotto's body punch is what sets up his knockout wins.

I disagree, it'll be more competitive. Both will make adjustments, coz they already knows what the other already brought. Roach already beaten Sr on the opposite corner, so this will be an interesting match better than the first where according from some of the posters, Cotto only won 2 rounds, 3 being generous. If this fight happen again, I will definitely buy the PPV.

Roach is deluded. The only reason Cotto did so well in that fight was because of the great strategy Pedro Diaz gave him. I can't imagine Cotto having fought that sort of controlled fight under Roach. We'll have a better idea after Sergio I suppose.
