Floyd is well spoken? You see it depends on who's fighting. You can have a fighter like Golovkin who can energize any crowd so he's accepted. You can have Rigo who is brilliant, but not very exciting and who doesn't speak English on top of that. Than you can have your Floyds and Wards where people are split, but they're well spoken and easily followed by the American public and are identifiable. THAT is how business works in boxing.
THAT is wrong. Why do they have to wait for May/November for mega fights? Specially against Mexican/latin boxers. It's part of what I'm saying.
Been fun chatting but my chick and her family are here. Peace.Last edited by Mr.Fantastic; 12-24-2013, 11:27 PM.Comment

Why do so many more white Americans root for Kobe or LeBron over Nowitzski? Answer: Familiarity and excitement.Comment

Isn't the way he speaks identifiable with most Americans under 40? And is there something wrong with capitalizing on Latin holidays for Latin fighters? And the first thing you tried to convey in this thread was HBO only kept Ward because he's African American. Im betting that what everyone who isn't a cheerleader with an agenda took it.
Have a good holiday.Comment

They should cut Ward's salary by at least half and put on 3 other fights for the same price. One of those could be a Rigo fight.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 12-24-2013, 11:54 PM.Comment

To each his own. Period.
It is what it is. In all due reality, I enjoy Rigondeaux's style more than I do Andre Ward's. The over-clinching can be an eyesore, but dodging bullets in a telephone booth is MESMERIZING. You gotta give Andre Ward some credit tho:
1) He hasn't been beaten in a boxing match since he was twelve.
2) He's the last American MALE gold medal Olympian in boxing (with respect to Claressa Shields).
3) He smiles more than Rigondeaux.
4) He's a God fearing Christian (which may please some audiences).
5) He built up a fanbase predominately from his home city in Oakland. I can see why Rigondeaux's team wants to build more fights for him in Miami. He can personalize with more people there, and some Cuban-Americans may sympathize with his sentiments on leaving Cuba for economic well-being.
Rigondeaux will have his day of glory... He should just keep winning, and leave the people that can't keep up with promises that they were suppose to keep. Only one more fight with TR, and HBO and Top Rank won't have to worry about Rigo "stankin up the joint" anymore.Comment
