But it has nothing to do with what I feel about him as a fighter. He was a guy with a good chin and powerful, looping punches. Very similar to Tua, which is why their fight was so good. Would he beat Bowe? Yeah, if he fought him in 98. LOL But in 92-94? Nah, no way. And Lennox would've handled him, and Vitali as well. Even Byrd probably would've beat him in a rematch....Byrd beats Ike 7-8 times out of 10.
Ike was winning the fight before the knockout.

He handled him because Byrd made a mistake, and Byrd knows he made a mistake. Byrd went out and beat Tua much the same way I think he could've beaten Ike in a rematch. That's my opinion. Do you guys think he'd just lay against the ropes again waiting for Ike to get tired again? That's what happened in the first fight and Byrd realized the mistake he made and admitted it post-fight. Ike lost every minute they were in the middle of the ring, and won when he had Byrd on the ropes. If Byrd stays off of the ropes, then he wins. He laid on the ropes, I feel he was waiting for Ike to get tired and trying to make him miss with those big punches, but he got caught with one of them. Byrd has the style to beat Ike, but he had the wrong gameplan. It's that simple.

I just don't see ANYTHING in Ike that would've made him a top 5 all-time HW. Sorry, Diego, we just disagree. I saw a powerful, looping puncher with a good chin. That's it. Those guys always have some good wins, and always pick up losses when they fight a guy with a smart gameplan and a good jab.

No kidding. Why? Because Byrd was laying on the ropes. It was some weird strategy that he had, and he admitted it was ******. Somehow I don't quite think Byrd would've done the same thing in a rematch...

"**** knows", but my take on this fight is:- Vitali would knock Ike all over the ring for the first 6 rounds! Then Ike would knock Vitali all over the ring for the next 6 rounds . This fight is a draw ladies and gentlemen

The better fighter usually doesn't need a rematch to get it done. Rematches are for guys that need to fight their opponent to figure him out. Rematches suck.

So there was no need for RJJ v.s. Tarver 2?

Tarver deserved a draw the first time. Those scorecards were ridiculous. No way you could score 8 rounds of that fight to Roy. No ****ing way. Roy didn't win the fight so much as Tarver lost it. Tarver isn't a great, great fighter, he's just better than Roy.
