Is there any options that Mayweather has at 147 that are not cherry picks?

Up until last year, Mayweather was fighting once a year in his comeback. Every fight was "The One."

That's why people didn't complain too much about Guerrero last year, it was just one of two fights that year. Fighting "ranked contenders" isn't as easy to deal with when a fighter isn't fighting often. Mayweather got **** because him fighting Ortiz and Marquez and Cotto are the only times we'll see him. Plus we're paying 70 bucks for it? Screw that, damn right I'm complaining.

I had a problem with his inactivity too. But last year he fought Guerrero (highest ranked WW on GBP's roster) and Canelo which was the fight EVERYBODY wanted. I think Cotto and Ortiz were decent fights as well.

His opponent selection has been B/B+ and taking the Khan fight will be out of character.

I don't see it but I've been wrong before so we'll see. I'm expecting Garcia all the way......

In my perfect world the May card will look something like this:

Mayweather/Alexander
Khan/Garcia II

I think that solves every problem. A welterweight unification fight, Garcia gets his 147 tuneup, Khan gets a chance to earn the fight and Alexander doesn't demand a huge purse.

That will make the September fight a 1.5-1.8 million PPV. Just like last year. Sho will lose money on the May fight and recoup it in September.

Who else should he have fought? Pacquaio wasn't available and Ortiz was the #2 guy and the best option at the time.

People were saying "It's the first time Mayweather's fought a big, strong, hard punching fighter in their prime in years".

That was the general consensus at the time. But the perception always changes after the fight.

In an ideal world Mayweather and Broner have some form of falling out and Broner beats Alexander and then we have a pretty big fight for September.

I doubt this happens though.

Khan vs Guerrero in March/April
Alexander vs Thurman in April/May
Broner/Maidana vs Ortiz in June

Even Paulie/Judah winner can get in on one of these maybe.

Back to the topic though, we don't seem to have a CLEAR runner for the fight for Floyd that is not considered a cherry pick.

From what I see.... Devon Alexander is in the lead, followed by Garcia.

To be fair, the bad blood was still pretty bad between Floyd and Arum in 2006. It's no coincidence the two fights people wanted he hasn't or didn't fight were Marg and Pac, and they have one thing in common.
