The deep rooted issue is that these guys can't compete with Floyd, most know this but most are also acting oblivious to the politics involved. There are only 3 names Floyd should be fighting and that's Bradley, Danny Garcia and Pacquiao. The only viable option is Garcia, that's pretty much it.
Is there any options that Mayweather has at 147 that are not cherry picks?

Even I would have to disagree there, we'll agree to disagree there. Khan right now is most definitely a cherry pick but again not much options.Anyone who bought into that fight was out of their minds. I said as much at the time. There was no scenario where Ortiz was ever going to be trouble for Mayweather. That being said, you're right that people did buy into it. Far as I'm concerned, that was a cherry pick.Comment

IMO, floyd has no options other than a shopworn pac. at the moment, nobody is on floyd's level.
pac's been on the decline, so technically he has more "legit" options. especially at 140.Comment

You don't even have to go back to the old days. James Toney, Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, Julio Cesar Chavez, Mike Tyson or any of your favorite fighters always defended and unified their titles.
I think people's familiarity with only the PPV era has them thinking every fight should be like "The One".Comment

Yea, youse are right...forget fighting the best...its all about "ranked contenders"
You know why you have to say "ranked contenders?" Because you can't stomach having to say Keith Thurman, a fighter that hasnt even sniffed a C-level opponent.
Whine all you want about the past greats, but Floyd's resume, like it or not, is a fart in the wind compared to them. The difference? Ali, SRL, etc are defined byu the NAMES on their resumes as opposed to the "ranked contenders" on Floyds.Comment

Mayweather isn't trapped by the politics like 99.9% of the sport is, but I'm past the point of arguing it. It is what it is. Garcia would be a good fight, Alexander is a viable fight. Thurman, I'm on the fence about. If he were to beat the hell out of Soto-Karass, he might be the best option out there. The deep rooted issue is that these guys can't compete with Floyd, most know this but most are also acting oblivious to the politics involved. That's why I'm refusing to believe Khan will happen in May. Doesn't it seem more like Floyd to wait out the results coming soon and assess the best possible opponent left when it's over? Why commit yourself to such a terrible fight like Khan when there could be such better options available in a matter of weeks?Comment

Exactly. S**t even when Floyd was widely praised by everyone in the sport, at 130-135, how many "BIG FIGHTS" did he have there??? Maybe 2-3 against Genaro for his first title, Corrales, and Castillo. Other guys like Manfredy, Sosa, C. Hernandez, J. Chavez were Top 10 contenders only. You don't even have to go back to the old days. James Toney, Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, Julio Cesar Chavez, Mike Tyson or any of your favorite fighters always defended and unified their titles.

People think every fight needs to be Mayweather-Mosley, Mayweather-Cotto, Mayweather-Canelo.Comment

It won't be Khan. Think of it like this, did Floyd fight Guerrero and Ortiz, or Berto in 2011 and 2013??? He fought Ortiz and Guerrero because they won. Now why would Floyd fight Khan instead of Danny Garcia???Mayweather isn't trapped by the politics like 99.9% of the sport is, but I'm past the point of arguing it. It is what it is. I don't see Khan happening, I'm one of the few who doesn't believe that would sell very well, casuals aren't that dumb and they make up 90%+ of the buys.Mayweather isn't trapped by the politics like 99.9% of the sport is, but I'm past the point of arguing it.
