Educating me.?... lewis was seeking a rematch with the former baddest man on the planet for less money rather than make more money with a rematch with the current baddest man on the planet... do the math here JABS. Trust me on this if Kirk Johnson didn't get hurt & Vitali wasn't the mandatory.. Lewis would be doing his Foreman impersonation to this day.Comment

LONDON, 6 June 2003 — World heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis says Mike Tyson is scared of him and there is no chance of a rematch between the pair. “I won’t ever fight Tyson again,” Lewis told British newspapers yesterday from his training camp in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. “That’s over. He’s seriously scared of me and his time has passed,” added the Briton, who will fight for the first time in more than a year when he takes on Canadian Kirk Johnson, 30, in Los Angeles on June 21. “He (Tyson) must have had bad dreams about the beating I gave him in Memphis last June.”
Lewis, 37, is widely accepted as the heavyweight champion after his eight-round demolition of former title-holder Tyson last year, although boxing politics means there are several versions of the crown held by different fighters. The World Boxing Council may not sanction the fight with Johnson due to objections from German-based Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko.
Lewis said he had banished thoughts of quitting the ring and believed he had two or three more meaningful fights left in him. “I have been having thoughts about retirement,” he told British newspapers. “A lot of different things happened to me in my year out of the ring. Most definitely I’ve been thinking about retiring on a last big super-fight — it could be Vitali Klitschko or Roy Jones.”Comment

The flip side of that is RJJ not retiring after Tarver 1 and IMO badly damaging his legacy. Maybe Lewis wins the rematch but he at least ended on top and history remembers that more.Comment

How convenient you would dismiss that. Need more proof retirement was on Lewis' mind even before Tyson?
“I want to give him(Tyson) a good whipping and then after that it is a strong possibility I will retire. I want Tyson. I am pushing for him and want to get him before the end of the year."
"For me it is not only the money," said Lewis. "I have earned millions. Mike is the last heavyweight of my era left for me to defeat and I want my place in history."
Here's where you say "thank you JAB".Comment

I'm not a fan and a hater of Klitschkos brothers but I have seen there fights it was pretty boring. They got no styles, Mike Tyson can knock this two out.Comment

In the long run its better for the sport. Would have been different had he been 27 and fought no one, but he's got a great resume.Comment
