Was George Groves Crying When...

He's officially retired then? When did that happen?
Was it to do with the drug ban or not?Comment

How long after the Reid fight was this?
Groves had no intention of giving him a rematch. He pulled out more than once to fight other people like Franciso Sierra (WHO?). I also specifically remember him saying that Anderson was beneath him etcComment

He didn't hand in his license as far as I know. But he did say he wasn't going to fight and he didn't know whether he was coming back or not.
It probably did have something to do with drugs, but as you can appreciate - no one is going to dig into that.
I think it was early 2013 .Comment

I think it was early 2013.
Obviously none of us has any idea about what Groves 'intentions' were. So I won't speculate on that.
What I do know, is that Groves, after beating Anderson controversially, went on to fight DeGale, Smith and Johnson in the year after which is decisively better competition than Anderson on all accounts.Comment

You don't need to speculate. You can read what Groves was saying at the time to know his intentions.I think it was early 2013.

Why did you leave out the no-name bums he fought?
The fact is that Anderson dropped him like a sack of **** and had him badly hurt. It warranted a rematch and the only reason it didn't take place was because of Groves.Comment

Well I doubt a fighter who actually signed to fight him didn't have intentions of following through with it. Not to mention the worlds better opposition he fought after that + he came back to kick Anderson's ass after the knockdown. You don't need to speculate. Well, because they were no name bums? Just like the 80% of opposition everyone else fights in that state of their careers - or if you're James DeGale, 100%.
Let me ask you this, do you think Groves was running from Anderson? Because I see you have conveniently not gone to that.Comment

Groves got hurt with a big shot but come back and took over the fight before stopping Anderson fairly and squarely that has happened many times in the game a rematch in not mandatory if the money is not there. Totally different to a fight that Groves was conclusively dominating in nearly every round against Froch and was stopped the first time he was wobbled after making Froch bandy several times. One scenario has nothing to do with the other. As for the Degale fight Groves got the decision i felt he edged it but it was very close, they will fight again but both men know it next time it needs to be for big money an immediate rematch would have made micky mouse money without a proper title being up for grabs. Rest assured none of Degales backers wanted him in with Groves again until it was for big wedge because losing again would have killed his career stone dead.Comment

This is a Hayemaker fighter we are talking about.Well I doubt a fighter who actually signed to fight him didn't have intentions of following through with it. Not to mention the worlds better opposition he fought after that + he came back to kick Anderson's ass after the knockdown.

Groves didn't give Anderson an immediate rematch or a rematch full stop. He did the same with James DeGale. Yet he whinged and moaned non-stop about Froch potentially not giving him one.
Look at his ****** face and girlish giggle after Froch calls him out on it. He has no response.Comment
