Unless he is completely shot next year, I pick Martinez to dominate GGG

Golovkin was an impressive amateur, his record is to be respected. You don't go 350-5 against even complete duds unless you have some talent but as it stands right now, hes done very little of note in the pros.
And I'm really struggling to get how people are knocking Sergio's opposition/resume when his resume is stacked.
Hes beaten world champions, unified world champions, multiple undefeated top 10 opponents, massive punchers and a variety of different styles.
GGG hasn't fought anybody, the only guy anywhere the top 10 was Macklin who may not even be in the top 3 in the U.K alone!

Okay Rosado is a bit better than he gets credit for & his record suggests but again he wasn't ranked, he hasn't beaten anybody of any real note & was moving up from 154.

Why not break the fight down? Make an argument for HOW GGG wins because when it comes down to resumes there really is only one winner there.

I can't pick against Sergio anymore and, believe me, I was a long time skeptic of his. So even with diminished footwork and reflexes, can't count him out. We didn't see the output he had against JR in the Murray fight. but Martin had a good gameplan which took a little from Barker's plan, in addition to the fact he is a TANK just like JR. GGG is a leaner, meaner tank but it appears that you might be able to keep him at bay, and moving back with a high output, and marginal footwork. Still doesn't mean jack as to who will win, but Sergio will be landing, and we know he can crack.

TS also made a thread predicting GGG loses to Macklin so you better respect his expertise

I mean lets take for example one of his best/highly regarded wins; Andre Dirrell, he got starched by Berto in the AMs.
A lot can happen in the AMs.

Like Curtis Stevens, he had a 250 win amateur record with few losses.
Robert Marroquinn had over 300 wins with few losses & wins over Gary Russell Jr & Adrien Broner.
Stevens and Rob amateur world champs and Olympic medalists?

GGG wont be the strongest fighter he ever fought, Chavez was huge and a crusierweight fight night. He may not even be the hardest hitter he may face considering Pavlik has an 80%+ ko percentage against stiffer competition than GGG.

If he comes back in good shape and fully rehabbed I can see Martinez stopping GGG late on cuts or an accumulation of punishment. A good long rest May benefit Martinez who has been fighting at a high level for a while and fights at a fast pace.

GGG doesnt move his head, has to be set to punch. He does go to the body well and that will help him but Martinez is not a powder puff puncher, should have his movement back, and is tricky.
I'm pretty sure you picked Macklin to beat GGG as well. In fact, you still owe my e points for that.

GGG will win by KO/TKO, I am convinced of this. Martinez will be clearly ahead on points when it happens, but GGG will catch him. If Chavez was able to catch him, GGG will definitely catch him - being a far better boxer than Chavez, GGG will not let Sergio off the hook.

If GGG is somehow unable to KO Sergio, then Sergio will win.

Resume-wise, Sergio is of course light years ahead of GGG, and I think a prime Sergio would outpoint GGG.

Martinez is more hittable than he's ever been, he doesn't move as well as he used to and he doesn't judge distance as well as he used to. And even at his best, he always had poor defense on the inside or at mid-range. All GGG has to do is close the distance with a right hand and then follow up with a left hook when he's in range. Like these guys did :

Can GGG do it? Hell yeah :

You can't count him out but it's clear he's severely declining. But the thing is, even if he was at his peak, GGG is the type of fighter that would always give him problems.

Honestly I can't see Martinez beating GGG. Not after I saw how Gennady can take the punch. I don't believe Martinez hits harder or as hard as Stevens and Gennady gone through it like it was nothing.

martinez is good, he is very good, but he is not floyd. Eventually Gennady would connect and that's it.
