Hopkins gets rough and fights in the clinch. But when Smoger breaks them up, it was Murat not listening and still throwing. It was Murat that hit below the belt, after instruction and while Hopkins was on the ground in a defenseless position. Then he tried to head butt Hopkins intentionally in Round 12.
Murat is a dirty fighter and probably could have been DQd. But luckily we had Smoger to put him in his place and not put up with his ****. He let them fight and it made for a fun night of boxing.

And actually Smoger did have words with Hopkins, rewatch it. On at least two occasions Smoger said to Hopkins you can't be doing that, bernard.
The ref said "BREAK" because Murat's back was turned unintentionally, Hopkins proceeded to walk toward him and punch him in his kindey/back area.
That is actually illegal, the epitome of illegal and he did it right infront of the ref which other than Murat punching Hopkins while he was down was the most blatant foul of the entire night.

Smoger was terrible looked paid off for Hopkins
Steve Smoger was a jerk towards Murat the whole fight. See Smoger hugging the hell out of Bernard after the fight? Ever see a ref hug the winning fighter. Smoger looked bought and paid for for Hopkins and Golden Boy. Watch Smoger get all the GBP big fights from here on out. Something smelled and it was the ref Smoger.

Totally legal.

Obviously Murat was alot worse than Hopkins and could easily have been DQ'd.
The problem is Hopkins did his share of illegal stuff, whether it was in retaliation or not (Still illegal) and wasn't warned once (Although apparently now he was warned in between Smoger's nice convo's with Bern in the corner)
It's a clear and obvious bias in his refereeing for this fight.
Smoger's one of the best ref's in the game but he had a bad night, it happens.
People denying it is outright hilarious though.

The ref said break, Hopkins proceeded to punch him when his back was turned. Of course you're acting like he tapped him which he didn't. He didn't throw a haymaker but he punched him.
Apparently that's just fine, though. Definitely not illegal or something he should have at the very least have been talked to about by the ref, no.
And regardless if it hurt him really or not is irrelevant, he hit him illegally he's entitled to a break if he wants one.
Hopkins has been hit in the body and has been giving extended breaks on numerous occasions.

Murat turned around, also had previously dirtied Hopkins blatantly. Hopkins hit him in the ribs.
Rabbit punches are much closer to your spine(or on the spine), or the back of your head.
I can recall this happening I think two times, one of them I can recall Murat getting hit clean to turning around with his guard up and Hopkins didn't like that he decided to about face.Last edited by SlySlickSmooth; 10-28-2013, 06:13 PM.
