Sergio fans, you can't claim a guy 2 weight classes smaller than him is ducking him, all the while he's not even fighting the top challenges in his own weight class.
I don't think I've seen one post in this entire thread saying about Floyd ducking Sergio.

No he wasnt, Chavez has never even beaten a top 10 fighter, how could he be #2? He was top 5-6 at best

      Murray was ranked #10

Even if he wasn't at the time, he has since gone on to prove all his doubters wrong and beaten the best titlist not named Golovkin. Sometimes champions catch challengers on the way up. Barker was a good fighter on the way up, just not good enough for Martinez. Who else should Martinez have fought since 08/09? He's fought everybody that has mattered in that span of time.

The GGG craze only started last year, his only been on HBO what...12 months? 3 or 4 fights? How many of them have been against world ranked middleweights? Macklin, who else? At a stretch Proksa, AT S STRETCH.

How people can claim Martinez is ducking GGG is a joke, Martinez has been out injured while GGG has been on the rise, the fight could not have happened when Martinez fought Murray, simply because Murray deserved it more. In my opinion Murray had beaten Sturm, better than any name on GGG's resume, until Golov finally got in the ring with Macklin.

How anyone can deny Martinez his place as THE man at 160 is beyond me.
Darren Barker was nobody when he fought Martinez. He was a Euro level fighter. There was absolutely no reason to consider him top 10 at that time. He was a cherry pick, a terrible cherry pick, and to pretend otherwise is hindsight, pure and simple.

People is confused about the timeline. Before the Proksa fight Golovkin's trainer said they were not ready for Sergio Martinez. Before that everybody knew GGG as much as N'Dam N'Jikam. Pirog was and still is a nobody. He offered a fight in Russia for the same money Sergio does in USA or Argentina. The Murray fight was an excuse to make a big fight in Argentina. IMO 2014 is the year in which Sergio must decide wether he retires, goes down to JMW or stays in MW and fights Golovkin.

Zbik was ranked #5 in ring magazine when Chavez fought him. Chavez was ranked #3, behind Sturm and Geale, when Martinez fought him.

I don't think it's unreasonable right now for Martinez to test his health against a soft opponent. He may very well decide afterwards that he is not healthy enough to go on and retire. Give him a break.
