Marquez knocked out Pacquiao. Is he greater than Pacquiao?

What did you feel Marg failed to bring to the show, being washed up and all? The legendary speed and reflexes?the Margs fight was TRASH. nothing but MARKETING TRASH. Margs was a puddle that whole year after he got banned. He went life and death with a mexican cab driver and had trouble making weight. Then Pac drains him to win a bogus vacant belt.
that was the epitome of selling a sideshow. i hate that fight.
I saw a guy with an iron chin and will throw a ****load of punches (for a Pac opponent), and hurt Pac worse than he's been hurt in years.Comment

Its clear you are new to the sport. Enjoy learning more in the coming years.Comment

Yeah, I don't get this. Margarito was a tough fight, physically, for Manny. It might get a little underrated, if only because Manny had to literally break his face to keep him at bay and endured a nasty body attack in the fifth. But no way in hell he was better than he'd been at 47 when he was beating multiple top ten guys or making Paul Williams dig in to seal the deal in the 12th of their fight (man, that was a fun scrap).I agree with wilkinsolajuwon regarding the Margs fight. But taking your points into consideration, the win still wouldn't eclipse either MAB win, either JMM win, the ledbawa or sakustil wins, or Morales 1, which we know I think is over ratedthe Margs fight was TRASH. nothing but MARKETING TRASH. OK fine, I see you're butthurt. Here's something to make you feel better. That Marg goes through Juan Diaz, that Casa and Katsidis in one night, in under 12 rounds. that's h2h of course, not fair, but the midget still had to fight him h2h and not p4pComment

I agree. I don't think it trumps Cotto either. That was a hell of a fight for four rounds and Cotto has continued to compete well since (CW or not). Yes, it was marketing trash (especially that BS belt on the line for a fake stat...that ish is worse than DLH's Middle title against Sturm). It was also, in the ring, a hard fight. Margarito was no easy out.
I'd rate the Pac top ten (just wins...the JMM draw is a feather for both and I thought he beat TB 9-3 but just staying official) as maybe:
MAB I
JMM II
Cotto
Hatton
Ledwaba
Saskul
Morales II
Clottey
DLH
You could put a lot of good in at ten: MAB II, Larios, even MargComment

I noted I was looking just at official wins. I'm in the minority that thinks he eeked out JMM III too; that could also go ten. If it was just best outings, JMM I would be right after JMM II and TB would probably trump DLH.Comment

Gotcha. So as you can see, JMM's best non Pac win (old MAB circa Pac 2) is borderline top 10 for Pac. And that same Marg rolls over JMM's next top 3 wins in under 12 rounds.Comment
