Can you really blame Floyd for being a ducker?

fair enough, but still his resume compared to other guys that had his status does not hold up,,, Do you think his post-oscar resume holds up vs srl, oscar, ali when they were at the top of the sport..
IMO Floyd waited out the welters from 07-09 and waited till they all beat the hell out of each, then swooped in and took the scraps ie cotto and shane. It was a smart business move but does look like a duck move to me, especially since all the potential fights i mentioned would have been bigger than ghost, ortiz, etc

I just think when your the p4p #1 and the #1 biggest draw in the sport, you are held to a higher standard...
Yes floyd has alot of great wins for any other fighter not named floyd,,, but there is only one fighter that sits atop the entire sport, so with that comes more expectations...

I don't blame him after seeing how much he is generating but he has a chance to retire with his legacy intact and it starts with Canelo. If he keeps this up until he retires he will get reverse the damage i mo but given the talent is no longer there who knows. While the best in the division were fighting each other Floyd was retired or coming off long lay offs

Williams work rate would have bothered floyd, and floyd doesnt have the firepower like lara or serg does to keep williams honest,,,,

as for the BOLD: did anyone know ortiz, or ghost, or baldomir, and all were ppv opponents for floyd

ortiz and guerrero are both mexican, so that alone brings a different fanbase that paul wouldn't have.

floyd beat a lot of tall fighters (tony pep for example), so i don't think he had any problem with dealing with taller fighters. not to mention the fact that paul didn't use his reach to his advantage really, so floyd would still be able to hit him quite easily. also, paul's weakness was counter punchers, so im sure floyd would have picked him apart. by that time floyd was also a major ppv draw, so there was really no incentive in fighting paul williams, as the general public had no idea who he was



what are you talking about? floyd fought hatton after shane already lost to cotto. at that time shane was on the comeback trail, and it wasn't until he beat margarito that people really had regained interest in that fight. of course everybody discredits that fight now

people wanted to see shane vs floyd in 06, the year before, but shane ducked and said he had a toothache,,, shane in 07 was coming off 2 stoppages of vargas and a solid win over collazo,, Shane vs floyd in fall of 07 would have been huge, as shane was seen as oscar's rival and shane was perceived as a threat to floyd then...

true, but neither could be hyped up as monsters, like williams could have been...
the staredowns at the pressers alone would have sold the williams-floyd fight, as williams would be hyped like the next hearns or hagler, and the mainstream casual fans would have boughten in to the hype IMO

Floyd cleared out sfw and lw divisions, and there was nobody who wanted to fight him at jww except Gatti.

Floyd had every right to wait out the ww division until the best came away and fight them, but none of those guys could do what Floyd did at the lower weights which is dominate that division until you are the clear number one.

Comparing Floyd to those legends while he is still fighting is almost a travesty.

Pac and Cotto didn't fight Paul Williams. PW didn't fight Shane. I just don't get the logic here. I've made this point a thousand times over, and the haters just keep repeating themselves. I have grown tired of repeating myself.

in that sense, i could understand floyd not necessarily being interested in giving mosley a payday at that point after mosley avoided him for all those years.

people have selective memory about the circumstances when they actually did fight though, it wasn't until after the fight was over that people said mosley was old. leading up to the fight a lot of people thought mosley was a serious threat to floyd, and there wasn't any other fight that people wanted more at the time, other than the pacquiao fight.
