I never once thought this fight would have been competitive.

Yes, its a shame it didn't happen at the right point in time but even back then I didn't see anything in Cotto that I thought could give Floyd any kind of trouble.

      What?.....................

Anyway, Quintana was undefeated because he beat a bunch of nobodies, then got beat by Cotto. He's supposed to be celebrated for that?

Then Quintana went on to beat Paul Williams, who also beat nobody. Oh wait, he beat Margarito....who also beat nobody.

Lmao, my point is this. The welter weight division was stacked, but it was stacked full of fighters who weren't fighting each other.

The best matchup in the division at the time was Cotto/Mosley and Mosley wasn't even a P4P guy at the time. And many people felt that Cotto got a gift. I personally believe it was a close fight and I gave it to Cotto by a hair.

Floyd's win over Baldomir holds more weight than anything any of those fighter were doing in the division with the exception of Shane for the work he put in years earlier. At least Carlos was the undisputed WBC Champ. Cotto, Margs, P.Will, they had paper belts and continued to beat up cans.

What you said isn't based on logic or anything that we've seen over tw years from these 2 fighters. You're just a Puerto Rican fanboy talking out of your *ss.

I couldn't care less about the reputation system here, it means absolutely nothing. Look at you. You're obviously an idiot when it comes to boxing yet you're greened up. That's typical for this site.
Do you want to tactically break it down? More than happy to. Not sure why you had to bring race into it, I'm not even Rican. Just because you consider Floyd a level above doesn't mean everyone else does.

As good as Cotto was at 140 and 147...he will always have a significant reach disadvantage to Floyd. So in their primes I dont see Cotto being able to win...close maybe, but not a clear win.

Margarito fought Clottey, Cotto, Mosley, Williams, Cintron

Cotto fought Margarito, Mosley, Clottey, Pacquaio

              Mosley fought Cotto, Margarito

Williams fought Margarito and was kinda avoided elsewhere.

Mayweather fought Baldimor, Judah and Hatton

You can have close fights with clear victors is the point I was trying to make.

I've never hated on Floyd's win over Baldomir, he was on a hot streak and the lineal WW champ. But to say Cotto beat on cans is ****** to say. Quintana, Urkal, Judah, Mosley, and Gomez were all ranked WELTERWEIGHTS. Floyd had only fought Mitchell, Judah, and Baldomir that were ranked at WW coming into the fight. His resume at the weight was better than Floyd's at the time this fight was demanded.

On an another note, the WBC belt is as much paper as the others, probably even worse with Papa Sulaiman running things.

A reasonable position, it's just not the way the majority of fans saw that fight.

Then Floyd should have said that, not fed us a bunch of BS about "Cotto lives too far away." Floyd brings 99% of hate he gets on himself for his hypocrisy.

I'm not accusing Floyd of ducking, but he didn't even attempt to negotiate the fight.

a lot of fans have said that the clottey fight proves nothing because marg beat the prime out of him. (but the mosley fight was just as close as the clottey fight & cotto hadn't been beaten by marg @ that point) did cottos prime start before mosley? do you guys even know when his prime started.
