Is clear who you were referring to and that you were trying to sarcastic with your response. My point remains, you're trying too hard. Mayweather has always been considered a class above Cotto, and he wouldve been a clear favorite refardless of when they fought. So your implication that only a "*****" or "sick and twisted power punch hater" would say that Mayweather would've beaten Cotto prime for prime is silly. You only said that because seeing the other guy say that only a Cotto or sick Matthysse fan would pick Cotto hurts your feelings. Seems as if your a Rican so I get all of the support for Cotto, but don't be a b*tch about it. Don't let pride get in the way of common sense.

So when he says it, it's okay. When I do it, I'm trying to hard I don't care what you think, you're in RED. Nobody seems to value your opinion on here very much. Prime Cotto > Prime Mayweather Deal with it.

But having just rewatched the fight, and as a Cotto fan, I think this fight showed how much he's deteriorated. He boxed very well in some rounds, and there's an argument for him to get the nod for 4, or maybe 5 rounds. But Mayweather's clean punching was nice.

"You're a helluva champion. You're the toughest guy I ever fought." Floyd Mayweather Jr. to Cotto following the bout.

So who wins? MAYWEATHER-COTTO circa 2007-2008 at 147lbs?

I think a prime Cotto, circa 2007-2008 would've been able to make a fight against Floyd go into draw or split decision territory.

I'd take a prime Cotto over Mayweather - fan of both.

The problem with this whole idea is no one seems to take in to account that the floyd cotto fought isn't prime anymore either, prime floyd that fought judah, gatti, corley etc would tko Cotto and I'm a cotto fan but cotto defense was never that good and prime floyd let his hands go and was much faster than this Floyd.

You sound like a 12 year old little girl. What the other poster said is logical and makes sense based on what we've seen over the years from both fighters. Mayweather has always been considered to be a class above Cotto, and he would've been a clear favorite regardless of when they fought. What you said isn't based on logic or anything that we've seen over tw years from these 2 fighters. You're just a Puerto Rican fanboy talking out of your *ss.

I couldn't care less about the reputation system here, it means absolutely nothing. Look at you. You're obviously an idiot when it comes to boxing yet you're greened up. That's typical for this site.

What "Top Notch" Welter did Cotto beat? He arguably got a gift with Shane and Shane was far from p4p at the time.

What "Top Notch" Welter did Margarito beat? Cotto with handwraps?

What "Top Notch" Welter did Paul Williams Beat? Quintana?

Shane was the Best Welter at the time and Floyd beat him. The Shane Floyd beat beats all of these guys.

So you are saying he retired to avoid Cotto who was with Top rank, Whom Mayweather just left and was in court dealings with? The same Top rank that turned down the fight 2 years earlier? Come on that's hyperbole and non objective...

That's honestly not that impressive of a resume.

The majority though Cotto beat Mosley, close but clear. Same way majority though Morales beats Pacquiao in their first fight, close but clear. Quintana was undefeated and Cotto destroyed him, then he went on and handed PW his first loss.

Cotto was the best WW when Floyd retired after Hatton and he chose not to fight him.

I don't even see that fight being competitive to be honest with you. I like Cotto a lot but he avoided Floyd for a reason. I like how everyone likes to make it out that Floyd is just some scared kid as if he isn't a professional fighter, just like every other boxer. Fighters don't look at him the way fans do and say "easy knock out". They see the skill and talent and think about if it would be wise to face him. Which is exactly what Miguel did, hence his comments in his ESPN interview last year where he stated that he had never pushed for a Floyd Fight and that he would have never been as ready as he is right now (Referring to May 5th 2012).
