  • Not sure what we are ranking them on,,,

skills- Floyd, best skills of his generation

resume- manny, took on way more challenges especially in the lower weight classes

ATG- I think i lean towards manny, simply because he has taken bigger fights ala barrera, jmm, morales, which i think is slightly better than corrales, genaro, JLC but its very close,, and floyd has a chance to overcome manny with a few more wins like canelo, bradley, broner, lucas/danny, etc

People discount the morales win but i think that is overblown,, Morales was only beaten by MAB in 2 close fights, and the raheem fight was a total letdown but i dont think morales was damaged and became shot after that loss,,, It was a clear loss, but styles make fights, and is akin to what floyd did to jmm,, they beat the guy on points but didnt inflict any career changing punishment, like tito did to vargas, etc

Both manny and floyd are clearly the best 2 of this era,,, You could make a case for either guy,,,
I venture to say that if floyd retires undefeated he will be ranked higher,,,

I usually reserve ranking guys as ATGs until their career is over, or at least the meaningful career fights because some guys like holyfield, jones and toney are still fighting but are nowhere near relevant, so its easier to rank those guys than it is with floyd and manny who still have alot of meaningful fights ahead of them

Twako manny turned down the fight in 2009.nothing you post will EVER change that or make it go away. Could floyd have made it easier to make the fight happen after that, of course he could have. That doesn't change manny refusing to fight nor does it justify the reasons he gave for doing so.

Manny had enough balls to ask Rios for ped testing and to ask JMM and Tim to sign with TR to get a fight with him. He just doesn't have enough balls to do these things himself to get a fight with floyd.

His record before and after losing to Raheem says different.

I think you give manny too much credit,,, I think its his handlers that call all the shots,, manny just pretty much shows up and fights and does what he is told,,, I dont think he is like a mayweather who is calling all his own shots for the most part,..
Manny is a puppet of TR and that is why guys have to sign with TR, I dont think manny cares if the guys are TR or not,,,

i respect you but Morales was a completely different fighter and far less than before the fight. He got waxed by raheem. if raheem could hit harder erik might have been ko'd in rd 10. then he had to cut the weight and go back down to SFW for the Manny rematche(s).

            • make this poll after mayweather completes the five more fights he promised, assuming pacquiao retires after the rios fight. it doesn't make sense to compare pacquiao to a perennial vacationer.

He may not be a promoter like floyd, we agree. But I doubt he is a helpless peasant being controlled and manipulated by the evil Bob. WHenever Manny does something positive-its because he is a congresssman andgreat human being. whenever its refusing to fight or the other BS he is suddenly a pawn being controlled by the devil.

                SUre is convienent.

True but i dont think it was the raheem fight that ruined him,,,

Yes he lost, but it wasnt a beatdown,,

I think manny beat him up in a war in the 2nd fight, and that took alot out of morales, then the 3rd fight manny crushed him,,,
Then the diaz fight i think morales showed his age and looked good in spots but just didnt have the energy to fight 12 hard rounds,,,,

I actually think that what ruined morales is the 12th round of the first manny fight, when he was up on the scorecards and decided to turn southpaw and trade with manny. Manny almost put him out and morales was severely rocked in that final round,, yes it was super exciting but I think that took alot out of morales and he was never the same after that round,,,,

I think a guy like raheem would beat morales anytime, even a prime morales, styles make matchups and raheem was a very slick and underrated fighter, he would always give morales trouble,,

The same thing could apply to floyd and zab,,,, zab had lost a tune-up vs baldomir, but still fought mayweather tough, and its considered a good win for floyd,, and zab doesnt have a good record after that fight with losses to baldomir, floyd, clottey, cotto, khan, garcia,

I just think people are quick to discount the morales win for manny when in hindsight, but at the time it was a great win for manny, especially stopping morales who was thought of as the toughest dude around at the time,,,

I just cant see it being a great win. If Morales had lost to JMM or another top level fighter instead of Raheem you'd have a point. But this was essentially a hand picked tuneup that went south early. Morales lost 8-9 rounds. **** even the house judge had him losing 115-113.

A lot of poster on NSB say Its not just who you fight/beat its when you fight/beat them. That has to be applied to everyone equally.
