Do you believe God gives a fighter strength?

Obviously religion is a bunch of man-made hokum.
But, if someone truly believes in it, it could help them. Placebo and the power of the mind shouldn't be underestimated.Comment

Absolutely FALSE, though it is parroted ad nauseum! The two most prolific killers of men in the history of humankind (Stalin & Hitler) were both avowed enemies of Christianity and the God of the Bible. Others could also be named. Surely you (& everybody) knows this! It's so hypocritical the way atheism is given a pass, but the refrain about religion being the chief cause of human death is accepted without the slightest question.
I don't see how you can attack atheism like that, sure there are militant atheists who hosts shows and debate with religious people, but to my knowledge, no one has ever had a war or killed because of it.
I cannot say the same for religion.Last edited by MPX309; 08-13-2013, 03:24 AM.Comment

Well, that's debatable.
But it doesn't matter, because his atrocious actions was never carried out in the name of atheism. He was an evil man who might have been an atheist.
I like this quote by the Nobel-prize winning physicist Steven Weinburg:
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."Comment

It is no type of training in the world you can do to get as skilled as Mayweather...even if you use his father as your trainer your still not going to be as good
Matthysse Power, Rigondeaux Footwork, Froch Chin, Ward Smarts, Hopkins Cleverness (Just to name a few) those things you can't "LEARN"Comment

Consequence of religion and cultures that believe in a God like figure is not just the crusades to the holy land , its ripple effect throughout humanity is huge , the word is good its in its use and interpretation that is abused .
Im not against the faith in living true to self in a good way , Im against the notion of a higher being controlling everything , I believe in science and the big **** with everything after that going the way of Darwins Theory of evolution , all life has an inherit survival instinct , adaption to survive is what drives this world to become what it becomes , it aint over yet .Comment

Politely, I think this is a cop out. People's actions spring from their worldviews (or are restrained by them). To seek to sidestep the connection between the atheistic philosophies of Hitler and Stalin and their ghastly actions is, I believe, unsupportable. The argument is not invalid. In fact, as everyone knows, when Stalin's brand of communism was forced upon the multiplied millions he tyrannized, atheism was compulsory at the risk of death or the gulag. Of course what he did was "in the name of atheism". Let's be honest about it.Comment

What the **** is going on in this thread. Am I still alive? Is there an after-life after all? Or have I transferred into a parallel universe?
Reloaded is making sense. This just can't be real life.Comment
