I don't think fighters thank God for making them win, rather that he gifted them with health and athletic ability to be able to win.
Do you believe God gives a fighter strength?

I don't think "god" actually gives them power. But when fighters live by "god's word" (bible/koran "commandments" or whatever), they usually have the best mentality and focus in training, which might explain why nearly every boxing champ has a faith. I reckon if non-believers just lived the same kind of lifestyle, they'd reap the same benefits.Comment

I don't agree when people come out claiming THEIR GOD is the reason they won because that's being silly, but to praise a prominent figure in many people's personal lives and be offended by it? Religion never causes a fuss in boxing, it's narrowminded people like Angel Garcia who bring the sheer amount of idiotic bull**** to the equation.
If a Legend like Muhammed Ali was never penalised for praising Allah, then neither should anyone of this era.Comment

Sure....belief in God means that you surrender a part of your ego, part of your perceived control over life, and rely on a controller to guide things. When you are in a time of peril or danger, if you ask that controller for strength and composure, you are more able to focus and maintain composure because you trust your controller (GOD) will not let you down.
When they get their "rushes" during the exchanges mid-fight, the one who knows he has someone extra in his corner has that extra bit of pop and determination in contrast to the one who is thinking why the hell is this guy so amped up?
Instead of relying on yourself you know that you can rely on a team mate to pull you through. 90% mental, 10% physicalComment
