Do you believe God gives a fighter strength?

Agreed with you.I (a Christian) think that the mention of God by an athlete should be handled with wisdom and discretion -- and too often it isn't. The Bible says that "every good gift comes from the Father" (James 1:17) -- so yes, God gives fighters their strength ultimately -- BOTH of them. LOL But I don't like it when an athlete seems to use God as hardly more than a good luck charm! Make sense?
i'm not a Christian but a man of faith none the less, many fighters use God as a good luck charm or in arrogance, e.g. "oh God helped me more cos he likes me more"
All things good or bad, come from God, namely a fighters speed, reflexes, power, stamina, good health, bad health etc etc Obviously every fighter, like any other human being must work for it.
Anyway, why is God being discussed on a boxingforum, there's bound to be immature, irresponsible and outright idiotic answers from people on both sides of the fence.Comment

more than very likely, given that the universe is infinite in size. Its an almost definite if you follow the infinite size idea to its logical conclusion.
It only seems unlikely because we are have explored such a tiny tiny part of it.
ahhh balls I am only helping the divergence from a boxing forum into another ultimately Hitler name calling thread.Last edited by DreamFighter; 08-13-2013, 09:20 AM.Comment

How does the size of the universe increase the possibility of a creator? And the "logical conclusion" of infinity doesn't make it almost definite that there is a creator...more than very likely, given that the universe is infinite in size. But again, it doesn't matter. Religion is still hokum, and that's what we're talking about here.Last edited by Bring It On; 08-13-2013, 09:50 AM.Comment

who said 'creator'. Even you didn't in my quote from you.
its pretty certain than in an infinite universe there are many things greater than us. again, you say 'creator' I say 'potato'.And the "logical conclusion" of infinity doesn't make it almost definite that there is a creator...Last edited by DreamFighter; 08-13-2013, 10:21 AM.Comment

As a person who believes in God I will say that I don't think God gives us anything except what we are born with which also goes back to dna. We choose are paths and God will meet us halfway if we do are part. I always give this example when it comes to fate and God. Example, God plans for me is to live to be old in grey, but in the mist of things I say **** it and jump in front of a truck and die, that wasn't Gods plan but it was the path I choose, so in the end I look like Gods hand in our life as a fork in the road he knows all paths but we make the choices. Many fighters give thanks to god saying he/she/it gave him the strength to win, some of them talk about if "it's in god's plans" this and that. Do you guys believe in mixing God with boxing? Personally I don't think God gives anybody the strength to beat somebody up period. What do you guys think?Comment

God blesses us all with with many different skill sets and talents. And he allows us to make our decisions as to how we utilize them. So I see know problem what so ever and I commend athletes for thanking God for the gifts that he has given them. And they should also give credit to their team as well as themselves for maximizing the talents and gifts that the Lord has given them. Many fighters give thanks to god saying he/she/it gave him the strength to win, some of them talk about if "it's in god's plans" this and that.
