i think a fighter's belief in God or whatever higher power gives them that extra confidence ..
Do you believe God gives a fighter strength?

Yes, I don't believe in a god but humans can gain strength both mental and physical from something they feel very strongly for.
Your family, your god, your country, etc....Comment

Well the beliefs of Greek gods, Myths, and Witches are no longer common, and as time goes by Science will become more advanced and more logical thinking will come more and more into play, it will take many many years but in the UK, and the Scandinavian countries religious beliefs are fading at an alarming rate, so slowly but surely religious beliefs will become less common, and hopefully before it causes any serious damage to the world.Comment

They were just born with good genes mate, like puppies you get a strong pup that will grow into a fine strong dog and then you get the runt who will be a lot weaker do you honestly think which ever one of all these gods your into goes around each and every person deciding i think i`ll make this one faster than that one, come on mate try to be a little more logical in your mindset.God blesses us all with with many different skill sets and talents. And he allows us to make our decisions as to how we utilize them. So I see know problem what so ever and I commend athletes for thanking God for the gifts that he has given them. And they should also give credit to their team as well as themselves for maximizing the talents and gifts that the Lord has given them.

religion maybe derives from looking up to your parents when you are a child, when you really have to put faith in something literally much greater than you. That's why its so deeprooted? - without that survival instinct to trust in something they cant define yet, animals just wouldnt survive. I expect that all fairly intelligent animals in some primeval way have an idea of respect for much higher powers, even if they cant articulate that as a belief. Certainly it feels uncomfortable rejecting religion entirely.
I am not sure humans can rationalise rejection of belief systems successfully on a daily basis and still live life to the fullest. Its a strong component of our make-up. We are stuck with it, we just gotta use it right.
not saying we should all be religious, but if you believe in nothing then perhaps its true that you'll fall for anything. Damn that Sucker Punch movie.Comment

I live in Scandinavia so I'm well aware of that. I think the numbers will go down in the future, when the third world countries advances etc, and hopefully the western countries continues to become more and more secularized. But I doubt that religion will ever truly disappear.Well the beliefs of Greek gods, Myths, and Witches are no longer common, and as time goes by Science will become more advanced and more logical thinking will come more and more into play, it will take many many years but in the UK, and the Scandinavian countries religious beliefs are fading at an alarming rate, so slowly but surely religious beliefs will become less common, and hopefully before it causes any serious damage to the world.Comment

Ok, well, with "higher power" I was referring to some kind of God who was the creator (as in most religions).
If you interpret that as a more intelligent life form than humans then sure, I don't find that unlikely at all.Comment

Rejecting religion? You're not born religious. I've just never felt any of that. There are loads of stuff that I don't believe in/take part in, just like Christians don't believe in all the thousands of Gods that's not the Christian God. I don't think I've been rejecting those things either.religion maybe derives from looking up to your parents when you are a child, when you really have to put faith in something literally much greater than you. Well to explore your line there, the sun was our creator, and is massively more powerful than we are. Hardly all powerful, but godlike all the same. Today we cant observe it close up but one day tomorrow we might find out its embued with some presence that doesn't register in the limited ways we measure intelligence by and observe phenomena by (yes, I have seen Danny Boyle's Sunshine lol).
Now if we are looking for the Son of God, that's easier to observe today, thanks to youtube and Andre Ward.Last edited by DreamFighter; 08-13-2013, 01:51 PM.Comment
