He was perhaps a little passed his absolute physicial prime, but he despite a slight physical slip he was mentally at his best and seasoned. And that package was his peak IMO. Just look at his fights prior in comparison to earlier.

    Similar to Barrera in 03.

Still waiting on an answer to this question...........

What had any of those prime undefeated opponents Cotto beat, done going into the fight with Cotto???

The real answer: Not a damn thing

Corrales is arguable but a prime Castillo is better than that version of Mosley.

Not overly better because despite being passed his best Mosley was still a top fighter then and continued to be so for many years after.

At the very least they are on the same level.

Cotto has one real good win over Mosley, a couple solid wins over Judah and Clottey, than a bunch of average at best wins. That's it. He has 3 wins above average.

Castillo has Johnston (#1 135), Lazcano (not amazing, but the guy was #1 at 135 at the time), Corrales, and Casamayor. That's 4 wins that are above average, and not to mention he arguably beat a prime Mayweather, the only guy to ever do so.

When you take all that into account, he's greater than Cotto. I'm sorry.

If you consider Castillo to have beaten Mayweather the first time then there really is no argument at all.

Exactly. If you take that into account, I wouldn't argue Castillo getting into the HOF.

But I don't understand why beating unbeaten prime fighters, who had never done a damn thing prior to fighting him, is so good??? There's a difference between being Canelo undefeated right now (he actually had a very good win over Trout), Hatton undefeated in 2007, and being Ricardo Torres undefeated.
