I think that if Cotto didn't have so many haters and his close fights were viewed from an objective standpoint, there would not be so many repetitive arguments. I am not saying the TS is a hater but I am referring to the usual stuff that you read all around the forum, especially now that Cotto, finally, has a scheduled fight.

I think Cotto won that fight against Clottey 114-113, but I can see someone giving it the other way because some rounds were close and if you gave one, just one, more to Clottey you would have a one point margin for him. What is ridiculous is when some claim that the fight was a terrible decision and that Clottey got shafted.

The Mosley fight is another story. I think Cotto won that clearly, although it was a competitive one. I think the rounds were decisive and I had Cotto winning it 115-113. I think I have scored that one, at least three times and I always score the same. Claiming that this fight was a gift seems very biased to me.

Exactly, this was a close fight that the majority gave to Cotto by a close margins on the cards. Clottey had that fight, he lost it in the late rounds by not punching. Cotto's KD in the 1st definitely helped.

Just like Morales-Pacquiao I, close but clear victor in Cotto-Mosley, Cotto won and deserved to win that fight. That was his breakout night and I just can't see how you could score that fight for Mosley.

I agree 100% with this post.

I am a fan of Cotto's boxing abilities, I'm not a blind fan, and I would tell it like I see it. Both fights were close, one more than the other, but I thought he pulled them off. Many times, nationality is mixed with this and it becomes a mess. Just because you are from a certain place does not mean you have to be biased and make up nonsense.

This is off topic but, for example, Wilfredo Gómez is one of my Top 5 ever. Do I think he deserved that fight against Rocky Lockridge? Not at all. Sure, he showed grit but the truth is that Lockridge won that by, at least, three points. The point is that nationality is no excuse to be a hater, troll, blind fan, or whatever else someone can be.

It's hard for some to separate being a fan of boxing and a fan of a fighter, but I have the hardest time trying to do it with Cotto But when he fought Trout, I conceded I scored it 7-5 Trout, just like I score Mayweather-Cotto 8-4 for Floyd. I'd rather him lose then get a fight he didn't deserve and to my eyes, he hasn't got one of those yet.

I agree again. My scorecards for those fights are a bit different though.

I had the Mayweather fight 7-5 for Mayweather, so I scored it closer than many observers. The Trout fight, to me, was more lopsided. I had that 9-3 Trout with one swing round that could have made it 8-4. It's all good, the main thing is to be objective and never fall prey to bias.

Pretty much. That's all I've taken from it anyway.

He didn't beat Pac and Mayweather because he isn't as good as them but he is right below them. There are very few fighters that I'd pick over him.
One the best posts in the entire thread.

TS makes good points but they don't call him FloydCorners for nothing. Everything will turn into a Mayweather fiasco.
