I don't think the outcome of the fight would have changed but he seemed pretty clear headed when he got up. Most fighters who are stunned are on wobbly legs when they are genuinely stunned. A lot of fighters use the whole 10 count to recover when they are put down to either let the round end quicker or give them as much time to recover as possible.

Most trainers would advise to take a full count if possible so what he did was clearly the right thing to do but the ref just stepped in and called the fight for no reason. Very poor stoppage nobody can argue that he wasn't fit to continue at that point, sad to say but has hometown decision written all over it.

An embarrassing night for Green Teef officiating, given that the ref was Green Teefing Malik all night anyway.

But watching it with the timer makes it questionable... I know it's the ref's count that matters, but Scott was on the deck for longer than ten seconds (if you disregard the time it takes The Chisel to walk to the neutral corner).

The biggest losers are the ones who sat through a scrappy, not-that-great fight and didn't get to see what WOULD have happened.

I had it 57-56 Scott at the time of the stoppage (if the round had been completed... I guess without it was 49-46 Scott) but it seemed to be heating up.

Scott clearly wasn't hurt or in danger of being killed, like Peter Manfredo Jr. was when he went to Wales, but even so, he may have ****ed up. But yeah, not a great night for boxing...

He wasnt not given that second because the ref immediately waved after 9. How are you still claiming he did it right if the rule says he must wave after 10, stop being a moron already. You're wrong, the rue says after 10, not after 9, Jesus, its not that hard to understand your own language

            9:55
That seemed kinda early but he should've gotten up at 8 George Forman made the same mistake and lost too.

              The truth is:
              A) Malik should have started getting up at 8 (He gave the ref opportunity)
              B) The ref for whatever reason (nerves/******ity/corruption?) counted him out a second too early.

What's the big complaint? The ref put an early end to the farce so folks can go home and watch a good movie! I could walk into any bar on a Saturday night and pick 2 guys that would show more energy than these 2 lumbering oafs! Officially, this has to be a TKO because the ref never counted to 10! Another howler at a boxing match. What's new!

LMAO that mother****er stopped that on 9.1. Seriously, he goes from 9 to waving his hands. He didn't say 10 because Malik was clearly....CLEARLY up before 10.

I don't get why people are so pissed off about this. Yeah, it was a bad call and it sucks because it ended the fight early, but bad calls are par for the course in this niche sport of ours.

Remember Joe Cortez disqualifying Humberto Soto in his title fight with Francisco Lorenzo? Remember the repeated **** calls during Martinez/Cintron? Remember how many times Abner Mares got away with lowblows during the first Agbeko fight? Remember Mark Johnson/Rafael Marquez 1? Remember Matthysse/Harris? Remember Cotto/Foreman? Remember Williams/Airich? Remember Juarez/Raheem? Ottke/Reid?

Sadly, I could continue to list examples of terrible officiating for days on end over here, but I digress. The point I'm trying to make is that bad officiating (just like bad judging) is par for the course for this sport. Right or wrong, it's not worth b*tching about because it's obvious this sport will never make the leap into the 21st century anyway. We've complained about this **** for years and here it is on full display again.

                    Such is boxing.
