Scott clearly got up before the 10 count, its easy to see because the ref never even said "10". So it was waved off because Scott decided to take all the time allotted to him?
When did the "10 count" become the 9 count?

I tend to agree with you. He beat the count, and even if it was ****** to wait so long to get up he still technically beat the count. -
When the ref counted 9 Malik's knee was still down and then he began standing up. The ref should have been less trigger happy and used some common sense but Scott waiting until a 9.5 count to stand was rather dumb. British boxing never fails to entertain.Comment

Could've at least gotten to the shirt wiping step before calling it off...pretty ****ing ******.
This reminds me of a different but similar situation in McGirt stopping the Macklin v. Martinez fight at the end of the 11th rather than giving Macklin his rest and stopping it at the beginning of the 12th (if need be). Same for Soto v Matthysse...Comment

The ref is suppose to count to 10, hence it being called the "10 count", after which point if the fighter is still down, he is officially knocked down and the ref waves his hands to indicate that. The UK has different rules then i guess, counting to 9 and waving means counting to 10Comment
