It's highly subjective. I've followed Golovkin for years in Europe and there's no doubt in my mind that he belongs in the top 3 p4p if it was based on skills, potential and ability rather than resume. Golovkin was ducked for years by Felix Sturm and both Barker and Murray has ducked him as well. There is a reason for that.

I'd have Sergio ranked higher in MW rankings, but I dont think he is the best MW on the planet, but he's the MW with the best resume.

As I've already said I'm ok with Floyd fighting Sergio, but I reckon there's a higher probability of Floyd retiring.
GGG's amatuer career and his power make him very unique. He is far more skilled than the recent crop of power punchers-manny, matts, nonito-that have jumped into the p4p discussion. I just dont think he is the best MW yet.

I just dont think he is a top p4p fighter yet. Putting him in the top 10 is the same as RIng putting Broner there- BS at this point.

If you watched Lampley on the fight game-the way he threw floyd and sergio under the bus th way he did almost suggests he thinks they will fight.

I think a better choice of words would be should Floyd fight GGG if he beats Canelo. Floyd is a 2 to 1 betting favorite but Floyd is not an automatic winner. Canelo is coming to win and Floyd should not be given credit for beating Canelo until he actually wins the fight.

Odd. I happen to just about agree with everything you just wrote!

Exept maybe for the Lampley bit. I never listen to commentators in my first viewing of a fight.

People need to stop using the weights as a reference point to which fights could get made.
while i pretty regularly cite that fighters may or may not be clothed and shodden, the weights are still a decent indicator of the fighters' size on fight night. it's better than nothing, or a weigh in the day prior. many of these guys do put on 10-15 lbs. some of them do approach 20. there are guys in mma that put on 25 lbs.

I dont think we disagree about ggg at all. i just disagreed with "dangerous" as the reason he doesn't get a floyd fight now. That doesn't mean I dont think he is a dangerous opponent for anyone given his skill set.

his fight game show after the fight.

So what I'm saying is that weight is not a proper excuse to avoid a Golovkin fight. It would be much better if Floyd stans like yourself came clean and said that Golovkin presents too much danger for Floyd at this point in his career.
Another "great hope" being touted as someone Floyd will duck. I knew this was coming the second GGG landed the bodyshot on Macklin.

              "Floyd is duckin GG"

You haters are predictable and past your prime.

Why doesn't GGG go up to 168 and challenge himself against ANDRE "SOG" WARD?

Why cut down just to have a natural welterweight come up?

Ward is waiting.... LMAO! You "hopers" don't want that for GGG now do u?? But its okay for aA smallish Welter like Floyd to take all the risks. Sorry but even DJANGO has limitations.

I honestly cant stand all this floyd-ggg talk..

The only people that want to see floyd-ggg is the floyd haters who wont be happy till somebody beats him....

Say he did fight ggg and floyd won.. Then the haters would be like why doesnt he go to middleweight and fight serg or quillen, why not ward.....

Be happy with the canelo fight, because that will be the last time floyd fights at jr middleweight...
He was plenty of guys his own size to fight like garcia, khan, alexander, manny, bradley, broner, ortiz 2, and most importantly Soto-karass when he beats berto...

Yep stopping Macklin is the new yardstick of greatness in here , it didn't take them long to find a MW for Floyd after they said he was ducking Canelo , yet mention GG going up to fight Ward which is less of a reach that Floyd has to do and its oh Ward is too big , there are some pathetic posters in this forum and 99% are Manny fanboys , its a case of Manny was exposed and they hate Floyd for it , Manny is a loser so they hate Floyd because he is a winner .

GGG said after his 1st HBO fight that he is willing to fight anyone from 154 to 168 lbs...he has no problem with 154.

So why doesn't he move up and fight Ward? Floyd is busy with the best at 154. After that its more than likely back down to 47 to vanquish more "great hypes" like Matthyse.

GGG should be like Floyd and Broner and challenge himself at the higher weights.

Whoever beats Ggg at 154 will get no props anyway becuz haters will just say "ggg was drained at 54".

Team ggg needs to sack up and dare to be great at 168. Froch and Ward await....
