How can Ring Magazine 154 belt be on the line?

No it's not wrong... a JMW is 147+ not weighing over 154. ANYTHING between 147+ and 154- is a JMW and any fight taking place between 147+ and 154- IS JMW hence why the commissions and organizations recognize these fights as JMW with titles and all. You might not recognize it but that does not mean you are interpreting the rules correct and everyone else is wrong. This is a JMW fight as it takes place between 147+ and 154-. There is no other way to slice it.Comment

Professional boxing is a business and like any other business negotiations take place, each party try to gain advantages, in this case Fraud remember that ginger offer him a CW of 150, so he started with that and they agreed to 152, since ginger is the 154 "ring magazine" belt holder and the fight takes place at that weight, the belt is on the line, how can you unify a 154 belt (I believe they are three on the line, Sulaiman most had approved) and leave the "ring" out, so when ginger get schooled and lose his two "belts" is he going to be a "ring" belt holder without being a world champion? What makes you think I am a Canelo fan? I am not. I was rooting for Trout against him. I have rooted against him in all of his previous fights.
I was furious when he fought Josesito Lopez. That bout should have never been sanctioned. It's yet another black eye for the Vegas comission that it was. And I posted about this right here on boxingscene at the time.
I have always been against belts changing hands in CW bouts. I have always criticized fighters like Pacquiao who win fake belts at CWs.
As to why someone would think 2 pounds are important, that is a whole nother discussion that has been covered many times already.Comment

You are still wrong. Read the thread, read the definition of weight classes and read the definition of what a catch weight is. This should help you to understand why you have it backwards. If you are still confused, stop posting. No it's not wrong... a JMW is 147+ not weighing over 154. You're the one who appears lost. Talking about context Chavez would be a fight at super middleweight.
That may have been one of the most ******ed analogies/comparisons I've ever read. On ANYTHING. Cong****.Comment

Let me just add this too. The way the IBO class weights is this. Junior Middleweight - Not over 154 lbs. (69.85 Kgs.). So you ask yourself is this fight above 154? No, is it above 147? Yes. So what is it? JMW according to IBO rules. This is the same wording with most of the organizations and commissions.Comment

No I am not wrong, read what I just wrote about IBO, that definition is straight from their rule book. Why are you telling me to read your definition when that is just your made up definition? You don't make the rules, the commissions and organizations do and the IBO's rules are... JMW = not over 154. That is what it is. Not over 154 and over 147 IS JMW. Your definition of the rules doesn't mean anything.Comment

Barney Ross weighed in at 142lbs vs. Armstrong. He weighed in at around 141-144 almost exclusively during his Welterweight career.
According to Boxrec, Armstrong and Jenkins weighed in at 144 and 143, respectively. It seems to be a common myth around these parts that the fight was fought at a catchweight, but I've yet to see any evidence to suggest that. Fighters never really weighed in **** on the limit back in the days of the same-day weigh-ins. The fight wasn't for a title anyway, though, so it's pretty irrelevant.
After doing a bit of research, it seems as though Bernard Hopkins did indeed fight twice under a catchweight for The Ring title (vs. Wright and De La Hoya), as well as in an IBF title bout with John David Jackson and a non-title fight was Pavlik. Perhaps catchweights are just his thing.

Holding the Ring title doesn't have anything to do with the alphabet soup titles. So yes, he should reamain the Ring 154 champ in the event of losing his alphabet titles in a 152 pound CW bout.
I seriously doubt Floyd will school Canelo. He barely sc****d by DLH at 154. Some people had him losing that bout. It's not like he beat up DLH or something - he ran like a scared rabbit and won on points. He didn't look so great against Cotto, who is not on Canelo's level as a LMW. I wasn't even that impressed with his last performance, against a lightweight fighting as a WW. He is looking like he has lost a step and he has never fought anyone like Canelo before. I won't be surprised if Floyd wins. He could run like a rabbit again and potshot to victory. And Canelo does have pretty bad stamina. The idea he is going to beat the **** of Canelo is just silly though.Comment
