What fight has ever taken place where a fighter has been a welterweight and the other a JMW and the commission put a title on the line for it? (Or any other two weight classes).

So if Eddie Chambers won a heavyweight belt, he could arrange to have all his defenses at a catchweight of 203, and they would be legitimate heavyweight defenses?

Most recently, Pacquiao weighed in at 144.5 for a Jr Middleweight title fight.

Henry Armstrong weighed in under the Lightweight limit for the first portion of his world Welterweight reign and weighed 142lbs when he fought Ceferino Garcia for a version of the 160lb title.

Stanley Ketchel was only 170lbs when he challenged Jack Johnson for the Heavyweight title. Similarly, Carpentier weighed in at 172lbs when he fought for Jack Dempsey's Heavyweight crown.

Mike Spinks won the Heavyweight title at 199lbs.

This is just a few examples over the course of boxing history, there are many more. It's just a rarity these days, as the weigh-ins are no longer on the day of the fight, so most boxers simply cannot afford to come in so light or they'll be out-weighed by a huge amount.

            Because its a jmw fight.

Your're wrong calling it "just a catch weight fight" because it is a jmw fight. Any fight contested above 147 and below 154.01 is a jmw regardless if there is a max weight.

You clearly don't understand weight classes if you think otherwise.

              Fair enough.

Let's say Kovalev wins a cruiserweight title. Could he have all his defenses at a catchweight of 180 lbs? After all, this is within the 175-200 lb range.

This fight is being contested at a maximum weight of 152. This is not a Jnr. MW bout.
Wait, so are you saying that Margarito was a welterweight when PAC destroyed him?
