Floyd has kept the 154 belt for over a year, talked about defending it, and brags about being the number one guy in two divisions. But when it comes to facing the best at 154, if reports are true, he wants to bring the guy down to 147?
If its true, and its not a given it is, no one can defend that.....
Winning a vacant 154 belt at 150 pounds is a historical achievement?

    • Floyd Mayweather is the highest paid athlete and the biggest draw in boxing. Alvarez is an unproven fighter whose drawing power is still in question. Who is he to make demands in this situation? I've said it before, Floyd doesn't need Alvarez to define his career. Despite what the people on this site think. Floyd can pick anyone to fight at this point and make his $30 mil. How many bums will Alvarez have to fight to get even half that amount? Say what you want the only one coming out a winner on this one is Mayeather. We all saw what happened to last person trying to play hardball with Mayweather. He ended up up KOd on the canvas by a boxer Mayweather toyed with.

C'mon son. Wise up. Its all about the Mexican Fan Base. If its black vs black he's going to need Canelo on the undercard to carry the PPV. Or else no one will buy a monkey mayweather fight.
Floyd/Mosley did 1.4 Million PPV Buys....Floyd/Cotto did 1.5 Million PPV Buys...now go die you racist idiot.

You think CBS is gonna keep dumping over 32 mill a fight for Floyd to fight guys like Alexander and not even break even? That ain't how business works man, trust me, there are caveats in that contract that states Floyd hs to bring in the goods. SMH at people thinking that network is just going to toss 200 million dollars away and expect nothing in return, LMAO.

It wasn't until De La Hoya made him a star when he was 30 that people outside of boxing knew who he was.
Fact is Canelo has the makings of a bigger crossover star than Floyd will ever be. He is already plastered all over Under Armor ads. Meanwhile mister 24/7 has 0 endorsement dollars to speak of despite being all these late night talk shows.
I love how people try to compare a 36 year old to a 23 year old and act like they have some type of point.
I love how people somehow believe this unproven kid has a shot at beating the best fighter in the world. beautiful

              Floyd in 2012:
"I think Miguel Cotto is a hell of a fighter, a strong solid 154-pounder. Pacquiao was trying to fight him at 147. I would never want to put a fighter in a position where he's not comfortable. I want a guy when he's at his best. If he's at his best at 154 and he's strong and he's solid, then that's the fight we're fighting at. I walk around at 150, but at the end of the day - skills pay the bills."
He says things like this, then demands the 154 pound champion to come down to 147, and you wonder why he get's hated on??????
When did Floyd Mayweather Jr. say that he wanted this fight at 147 pounds?

              • the fact that someone even mentioned a fight between alvarez and mayweather below 154 lbs is ridiculous to me. i don't believe mayweather fights him next (even though it looks possible right now), they will fight sometime down the line. mayweather and his die hard fans talk about money all the time, there really isn't a bigger fight out there besides alvarez, unless pacquiao makes a good comeback from his loss. we'll see what happens, but asking for mayweather/alvarez at 147 is pathetic.

                • the Ginger knows he can't make 147 and that Team Cherrypicker asking for it is a non-starter in negotiations

i'd like to see it honestly...floyd's still the best fighter in the world, but his last fight, wasn't throwing many combinations, and canelo is a big, quick dude who does throw fast fast combinations...has some other intangibles as well...would love to see if floyd can shoulder roll and sharpshoot his way to victory @ 154 against canelo...

                    • Everyone has there excuses, assumptions, and arguments but the real fact is floyd will beat him if they fight next at both weights period!!!!
If u are a floyd fan hope he fights him now if u are a canelo fan pray he fights him later.
Canelo is good but not good enough to beat a 2013 floyd end of story!!!!!
