I don't think they will fight. When has Floyd ever fought a young or prime champion in that champion's own weight class? You have to go back to when he was fighting at 135 - a long time ago.

If they do fight, I don't agree that people will suddenly term Canelo a bum. Regardless of how you think Canelo stacks up historically, there's little doubt that he is one of the best LMWs in the world, if not the best. For instance, there's little doubt that he would give Cotto a vicious beating.

He's young, he's fresh, and he's improving. He is not like anyone Floyd has ever fought before (due to his size, youth and skill). If Floyd wins, he could legitimately lay claim to being the best 154 lber in the world. Right now that claim rings hollow.

      Victor Ortiz was young

Victor Ortiz was in his prime

      Victor Ortiz was a champion

Victor Ortiz was a welterweight and the fight took place at welterweight

Now go ahead and revise your post and add the word "elite level" some other **** to discount that. lol

Posters on here will change their tune when floyd and canelo fight and IF canelo loses. I stand by that and i stand by they will fight. Floyd just fought and when has he ever rushed things. Just canelo, whom side im on, says something doesnt mean something isnt going on behind the curtain. Ill wait to see wht happens. Its early still.

Mayweather is a POS hypocrite.. didn't he diss Pacquiao over and over for fighting Cotto and Margarito and DeLa Hoya at 147.. saying when he fights people he wants them at their comfortable weight??? so he fought Cotto at 154lbs.. so he wouldnt be called a hyporcrite for dissing Pacquiao about fighting at Catchweights ... now he wants Canelo to drain down to 147lbs?? sounds like a ***** to me.... if you don't want to fight at 154lbs DON'T FIGHT AT 154lbs... and don't go taking belts away from a division you want to cherry pick from fgt.

Is this fight happening or what?

I'll bet Floyd doesn't even fight in September. Aside from the Mexican Bobby Budnick who else can he fight?

This fight will happen on Cinco de Mayo 2014 at 154. It will sell between 1.5 and 1.75M PPVs.

I think Canelo will give Floyd a hard fight. I've always thought that. He might even win as Floyd will be 37 by then.

Are you serious?! Even if he gave Pac 50/50 he would have made more money fighting anyone else at the time. in 2010 and even a year later it would have been the most lucrative fight in history. Most experts said both fighters could have commanded a $50 million guarantee with both getting a lot more on the upside. Money wasn't enough to risk the 0 then, and its not enough now.

That was what quite a few were saying prior to the Ortiz fight strangely enough.

Good chance a similar trend will happen after Canelo.
